Get Your MSW Credential Evaluated Early
Trinity Health's Social Work roles typically require a Master of Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program. If your degree is from outside the U.S., request a credential evaluation through NASW-recognized evaluators before you apply, not after an offer.
Target Roles Tied to Clinical Licensure
Trinity Health's sponsored Social Work positions often sit within care coordination and discharge planning units where LCSW or LMSW licensure is required by state. Applying to roles that specify licensure signals you meet the specialty occupation threshold USCIS expects for H-1B petitions.
Search Open Roles Using Migrate Mate
Trinity Health posts Social Work openings across multiple regional systems. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Trinity Health positions that have a visa sponsorship track record, so you're only spending time on roles where sponsorship is a real possibility.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope Before Accepting Offers
Trinity Health sponsors multiple visa types for Social Work roles, including H-1B and TN. Before signing an offer, confirm in writing which category they're filing under, whether they cover premium processing, and who bears USCIS filing fees.
Account for State Licensure in Your Filing Timeline
H-1B petitions for Social Work roles require the position to begin no earlier than October 1. If your state social work license takes two to four months to process, start that application immediately after graduation to avoid a gap between USCIS approval and your start date.
Understand How PERM Affects Your Long-Term Path
Trinity Health sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for some Social Work employees. PERM labor certification requires DOL to certify no qualified U.S. workers were available, a process that can take a year or more, so initiate that conversation with HR well before your H-1B period runs short.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Trinity Health sponsor H-1B visas for Social Workers?
Yes, Trinity Health does sponsor H-1B visas for Social Work roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Social Work positions requiring a Master of Social Work degree and state licensure, such as LCSW or LMSW roles in clinical care coordination or behavioral health, typically meet that threshold. Confirm the specific role's eligibility with Trinity Health's HR team before applying.
Which visa types does Trinity Health use for Social Work roles?
Trinity Health sponsors several visa categories for Social Work positions, including H-1B for specialty occupation roles, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying Social Work classifications, F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing field placements or early-career roles, J-1 visa for exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa pathways for longer-term employees pursuing permanent residence.
What qualifications does Trinity Health expect for sponsored Social Work positions?
Most sponsored roles require a Master of Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program and an active state social work license, typically LMSW or LCSW depending on the position level. Clinical roles in care transitions, behavioral health, or discharge planning may also require prior hospital or healthcare setting experience. Roles tied to specific patient populations, such as pediatrics or oncology, often require specialty-area familiarity.
How do I apply for Social Work jobs at Trinity Health?
You can find and apply for Trinity Health Social Work openings through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles at employers with a documented sponsorship history so you can focus your search on realistic opportunities. When applying directly, tailor your resume to the specific care setting and patient population listed in the job description. Follow up with Trinity Health's HR or talent acquisition team to confirm sponsorship availability for the specific posting before investing significant time in the process.
How do I plan my timeline if Trinity Health sponsors my H-1B for a Social Work role?
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start date, so you and Trinity Health need to align on the offer and filing preparation by early March at the latest. Factor in state licensure processing time alongside the USCIS timeline, since most Social Work roles require an active license before the position begins. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT end date and whether a STEM extension applies to bridge any gap.
