Align your degree to process engineering requirements
TSMC's Manufacturing Engineer roles typically require a degree in chemical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering, or a closely related field. Make sure your transcripts and credential evaluations clearly reflect that match before applying, since specialty occupation determinations hinge on degree-to-role alignment.
Target fab-specific roles not general openings
TSMC's Arizona fab hires Manufacturing Engineers for distinct process modules like CMP, etch, and diffusion. Applying to module-specific postings signals hands-on fab experience and improves your fit score against the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies to H-1B petitions.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring roles
Not every TSMC Manufacturing Engineer posting actively recruits international candidates at the same time. Use Migrate Mate to surface roles that include E-3 or H-1B sponsorship and narrow your search to the specific process areas where TSMC is actively hiring.
Confirm E-3 eligibility before your offer conversation
If you hold Australian citizenship, the E-3 visa bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and can be filed directly at a U.S. consulate in Australia. Raising this with your TSMC recruiter early avoids the cap-subject H-1B timeline and can accelerate your start date significantly.
Prepare for DOL prevailing wage scrutiny in semiconductor roles
Semiconductor fabrication roles at TSMC are typically classified under highly specific Standard Occupational Codes. DOL prevailing wage determinations for these codes can push offered salaries higher than comparable roles at other employers, so understand the wage tier attached to your specific job title before negotiating.
Time your H-1B registration around TSMC's hiring cycle
TSMC typically ramps hiring ahead of new fab milestones. If you're targeting an H-1B and your offer comes after the March registration window closes, work with your employer to explore cap-exempt or change-of-status options rather than waiting a full year for the next lottery.

Find Manufacturing Engineer at TSMC JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does TSMC sponsor H-1B visas for Manufacturing Engineers?
Yes, TSMC sponsors H-1B visas for Manufacturing Engineers and has done so consistently across its U.S. operations. The company works with immigration counsel to file cap-subject H-1B petitions during the annual USCIS registration window in March. If you're on OPT or another work-authorized status, you can start before an H-1B is approved, which gives you more runway.
How do I apply for Manufacturing Engineer jobs at TSMC?
Applications go through TSMC's careers portal. For international candidates, the strongest approach is to apply to module-specific postings that match your process background, whether that's etch, CVD, metrology, or another area. Roles posted for the Arizona fab are most likely to include visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate aggregates TSMC's sponsored Manufacturing Engineer openings in one place so you can filter by visa type.
Which visa types does TSMC commonly use for Manufacturing Engineers?
TSMC sponsors H-1B visas for most international Manufacturing Engineers hired from outside the U.S. Australian citizens can also apply through the E-3 visa, which has no annual lottery. For longer-term pathways, TSMC has supported Green Card sponsorship through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based categories, typically after an employee has established tenure in the role.
What qualifications does TSMC expect for Manufacturing Engineer roles?
Most Manufacturing Engineer postings at TSMC require a bachelor's degree or higher in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, or physics. Hands-on fab experience in a cleanroom environment is a strong differentiator, particularly in process modules like CMP, diffusion, or lithography. For H-1B purposes, your degree must align directly with the specific engineering discipline the role requires.
How do I understand the H-1B filing timeline if TSMC extends me an offer?
The H-1B cap registration window opens each March, with a lottery selection typically completed by late March or early April. If selected, USCIS begins accepting full petitions on April 1 for an October 1 start date. That means offers made in late spring or summer often have a six-month gap before your H-1B takes effect. TSMC typically bridges this gap using OPT or other available work authorization where applicable.
