Align your credentials to LCA requirements early
USI files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before sponsoring any visa. Having your degree credentials evaluated and your specialty occupation documentation ready before the offer stage removes delays that can cost you the role.
Target branch offices in high-demand markets
USI operates regional branches where Business Development hiring is tied to local book-of-business growth targets. Focusing your applications on offices in markets with active commercial insurance expansion increases your chances of landing a sponsorship-eligible opening.
Use Migrate Mate to filter active openings by sponsorship
USI posts Business Development Specialist roles across many locations simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for USI positions that are open to visa sponsorship, so you are not spending time applying to roles where sponsorship is not on the table.
Demonstrate insurance-specific revenue experience in your resume
USI hiring managers for Business Development roles prioritize candidates with a demonstrated pipeline of commercial accounts or brokerage relationships. Generic sales experience without insurance industry context rarely advances to the sponsorship conversation at firms like USI.
Negotiate your start date around USCIS processing timelines
Standard USCIS processing for nonimmigrant work visas can run several months. Once you have a verbal offer, raise the start date question directly with the hiring team so USI's HR can initiate the filing with enough lead time for your actual start.

Find Business Development Specialist at USI Insurance Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does USI Insurance Services sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Specialists?
USI Insurance Services does not appear in recent H-1B sponsorship data for Business Development Specialist roles. The visa types they have actively sponsored for this function include E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and J-1. If you hold Australian citizenship or Canadian or Mexican nationality, the E-3 or TN pathways are the more realistic options to discuss with USI's HR team.
Which visa types does USI Insurance Services typically sponsor for Business Development Specialists?
USI has sponsored E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and J-1 visas for candidates in this function. E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens and requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals. F-1 OPT and CPT are available to international students currently enrolled in or recently graduated from U.S. degree programs.
What qualifications does USI Insurance Services expect for Business Development Specialist roles?
USI typically expects a bachelor's degree in business, finance, marketing, or a related field for Business Development Specialist positions, along with prior experience in insurance sales, brokerage, or account management. Candidates who can demonstrate existing client relationships or a track record of closing commercial lines accounts tend to progress further. Licensing requirements vary by state, so reviewing the specific posting for relevant P&C or life and health license requirements is important.
How do I apply for Business Development Specialist jobs at USI Insurance Services?
You can find and apply for Business Development Specialist openings at USI Insurance Services directly through their careers portal. For international candidates, Migrate Mate lists active USI Business Development roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which helps you identify which postings are open to candidates requiring work authorization before you invest time in applying.
How do I manage the timeline between a USI offer and my visa filing?
Once USI extends an offer, the sponsorship process involves DOL certification for the Labor Condition Application followed by USCIS petition review, which can take several months under standard processing. Raising your work authorization situation early in final-round interviews gives USI's HR team enough runway to initiate the filing. For F-1 OPT holders, USCIS recommends applying at least 90 days before your intended employment start date.
