Tailor your credentials for insurance licensing
Most Account Executive roles at USI require a state insurance producer license before you can legally bind coverage. Confirm which lines of authority apply to your target market and begin pre-licensing coursework before you receive an offer, so you're not a liability risk to the hiring team.
Target USI's regional offices strategically
USI operates through a decentralized model, so hiring decisions and sponsorship appetite often sit with regional managing directors, not a central HR team. Research which offices have open Account Executive requisitions in your specialty, whether commercial P&C, employee benefits, or risk management, and direct outreach accordingly.
Clarify your visa type early in screening
USI has sponsored E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, and J-1 candidates for this function. During initial recruiter screening, confirm which category applies to your situation so the hiring team can loop in their immigration counsel before an offer is drafted, avoiding delays at the offer stage.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active openings
USI posts Account Executive roles across dozens of markets simultaneously and positions turn over quickly. Search Migrate Mate to filter active USI openings by visa type and location, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already a documented part of the hiring pattern.
Prepare a DOL-ready employment history file
For TN or E-3 processing, your employer will need to document that the Account Executive role qualifies as a specialty occupation or professional-level position. Compile a detailed employment history, degree transcripts, and a role description that maps your client advisory duties to the relevant professional category before your first interview.
Negotiate OPT cap-gap timing into your start date
If you're on F-1 OPT and your authorization window is closing, confirm with USI's HR team whether they can time your start date to fall within a cap-gap period. USCIS grants a 60-day grace period after OPT expiration when an H-1B petition is pending, but your employment must not lapse before the petition is filed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does USI Insurance Services sponsor H-1B visas for Account Executives?
USI's sponsorship history for Account Executive roles is concentrated in E-3 visa, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and J-1 visa categories rather than H-1B visa. If you're seeking H-1B sponsorship specifically, ask your recruiter directly whether USI's immigration counsel handles H-1B filings for this function, as sponsorship decisions are often made at the regional business unit level.
How do I apply for Account Executive jobs at USI Insurance Services?
Applications go through USI's careers portal, where Account Executive roles are listed by region and specialty. You can also browse active openings filtered by visa type and location on Migrate Mate, which surfaces USI roles where sponsorship has been part of the hiring pattern. Tailor your resume to highlight book-of-business management, client retention metrics, and any insurance producer licenses you hold.
Which visa types are commonly used for Account Executive roles at USI Insurance Services?
USI has sponsored Account Executives under E-3 for Australian nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican professionals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students transitioning from insurance or business programs. J-1 exchange visitors have also been sponsored for this function. Each category has different documentation requirements, so confirm your eligibility before the offer stage to avoid delays.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Account Executive roles at USI Insurance Services?
USI typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field, plus relevant sales or client management experience in commercial insurance or employee benefits. A state insurance producer license is usually required or expected within a defined onboarding window. Demonstrated ability to manage a book of business and cross-sell across service lines is a strong differentiator.
How do I manage the visa filing timeline when accepting an Account Executive offer at USI Insurance Services?
For E-3 and TN categories, processing can happen at a U.S. consulate or port of entry with relatively short lead times, often two to four weeks for consular appointments. For F-1 OPT extensions or J-1 transfers, coordinate with USI's HR team and your current Designated School Official or program sponsor at least 60 days before your authorization expires to avoid an employment gap.
