INTRODUCTION
Volt is immediately hiring for Senior Design Engineer – in Tucson, AZ.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components and sub-assemblies for tactical missile systems and equipment in accordance with system requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including structural and thermal analysts, Materials Engineering, Quality, Safety, Supply Chain, Operations, and program leadership. Support factory and suppliers with product development, obsolescence management, and troubleshooting both domestically and internationally. Interface with engineering and non-technical teams as well as suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges. Work with limited supervision while meeting commitments related to schedule, financial, and technical goals. Participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to support sound technical decision-making. Support First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and work closely with Quality Engineers, including support for Raytheon Source Inspection (RSI). Apply engineering knowledge to technical problem-solving and hardware development in a fast-paced team environment. Mentor and guide a small team of engineers within the program. This is 12 months Full-time contract with possible hire opportunity.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in the design, development, and production of mechanical equipment and/or hardware, preferably for military environments.
- Experience developing, creating, releasing, and updating mechanical technical data packages.
- Ability to review and interpret technical documentation in a production environment.
- Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in a production environment for client's products.
- Experience supporting full-rate factory production of missile components and assemblies.
- Working knowledge of client's and commercial specifications.
- Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.
- Experience with PTC Windchill Product Data Management or equivalent configuration/data management tools.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated team player with strong leadership and collaboration skills.
EDUCATION LEVEL PREFERRED
Bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent relevant experience.
COMPENSATION
- Pay Range: $70.00 - $75.00 per hour.
