Align your credentials with U.S. licensure expectations
Westinghouse Electrical Project Manager roles often require or strongly prefer a Professional Engineer license. Before applying, evaluate whether your foreign engineering credentials can be evaluated for U.S. equivalency through a NCEES credentials review, which strengthens your candidacy and visa petition.
Target Westinghouse's nuclear services division directly
Westinghouse's nuclear services and new plant projects units post Electrical Project Manager roles most consistently. Filtering your search to these business units increases your chance of landing a role tied to long-term projects, which supports multi-year H-1B sponsorship rather than short-term contract positions.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Westinghouse openings
Westinghouse posts Electrical Project Manager roles across multiple locations and divisions. Use Migrate Mate to browse current openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're only applying to positions where sponsorship is confirmed available.
Understand how TN status applies to your role
Canadian and Mexican engineers holding relevant degrees can enter on TN status for engineering roles at Westinghouse without an H-1B. TN classification requires your offer letter to explicitly describe duties that fall under the DOL's engineer occupational category, so review that language before signing.
Clarify OPT STEM extension eligibility early in the process
Westinghouse is an E-Verify employer, which is required for F-1 students to use the 24-month STEM OPT extension. Confirm with the recruiter that your specific Electrical Project Manager role qualifies under your STEM-designated degree field before your initial OPT period expires.
Build your H-1B timeline around Westinghouse's project cycles
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start. If Westinghouse extends you an offer after the filing window closes, negotiate a start date tied to the next cap cycle and confirm the company will hold the offer through USCIS processing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Westinghouse Electric Company sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Project Managers?
Yes, Westinghouse Electric Company sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Project Manager roles. Westinghouse operates as an E-Verify employer and has a documented history of supporting international engineering professionals through the H-1B process. Sponsorship availability can vary by business unit and project scope, so confirming directly with the recruiter during the offer stage is the most reliable approach.
How do I apply for Electrical Project Manager jobs at Westinghouse Electric Company?
Apply directly through Westinghouse's careers portal or use Migrate Mate to browse current Electrical Project Manager openings at Westinghouse filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility. Tailor your application to highlight project management experience in power generation or nuclear energy environments, and be explicit about your visa status and authorization needs early in the process.
Which visa types does Westinghouse Electric Company commonly use for Electrical Project Manager roles?
Westinghouse sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visas for engineering and project management roles. H-1B is the most common long-term path for Electrical Project Managers. TN visa is available to qualified Canadian and Mexican nationals in engineering roles. F-1 OPT, including the STEM extension, is supported given Westinghouse's E-Verify enrollment.
What qualifications does Westinghouse expect for Electrical Project Manager roles?
Westinghouse typically expects a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field, along with project management experience in energy or power infrastructure environments. Nuclear facility experience is a strong differentiator. A Professional Engineer license or progress toward one is valued, particularly for roles involving design oversight or regulatory compliance under NRC standards.
How do I plan my timeline if Westinghouse sponsors my H-1B for an Electrical Project Manager role?
H-1B cap-subject petitions open for filing in April and carry an October 1 start date if selected in the lottery. If you receive a Westinghouse offer outside that window, plan for a gap of up to 12 months before your H-1B becomes active. Westinghouse can file for premium processing through USCIS to receive a decision within 15 business days, which reduces uncertainty during that waiting period.
