You will join a global team of talented People Business Partners supporting our G&A functions, and you will lead the talent strategy for the Global Finance Organization, as the primary PBP to Workday’s Chief Financial Officer (EVP).
About the Role
We are looking for a Principal People Business Partner comfortable operating in a fast-paced, outcome-oriented environment. This individual needs to be collaborative, partnering closely with global PBPs in EMEA and APAC, particularly in India where the Finance organization has a growing population.

- Having an employee-first and team-first approach.
- Living our core value of Having fun.
About You
As a Principal People Business Partner, you will report to the PBP/OE Lead for G&A (Finance, Legal, and P&P). Your number one priority is to activate the ingredient that is at the center of Workday’s success – our people. More specifically, Workday People Business Partners are:
Thought Partners: Proactively build trusting relationships, facilitate thoughtful dialogue, and think strategically to advise VP+ leaders on organizational decisions.
Executive Coaches: Coach our VP/SVP/EVP leaders on all things related to their leadership mindset and approach.
Problem Solvers: Identify and articulate problem statements leveraging Workday data. Develop and implement solutions in partnership with PBP colleagues and CoEs.
Talent Strategists: Develop a Global Finance Talent Strategy and lead Talent Management initiatives to support that strategy (e.g. succession planning, leadership development).
Business Partners: Think like a functional business leader, understand their business, and utilize a deep understanding of HR fundamentals to drive impactful people solutions.
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in the HR function with, at least 8 years in a strategic (PBP) HRBP role

Our Approach to Flexible Work
With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.
At Workday, we are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive hiring experience where all candidates can fully demonstrate their skills. If you require assistance or an accommodation at any point, please email accommodations@workday.com.

Align your credentials to U.S. HR standards
Workday's HR roles often require familiarity with U.S. employment law, HRIS platforms, and compliance frameworks. If your experience is from outside the U.S., document how your work maps to these areas before applying.
Target roles that match your visa category
Workday sponsors multiple visa types, and not every HR role qualifies equally across all of them. Research which job titles in Workday's HR org have the degree requirements and specialty occupation profile your visa category demands.
Find open HR positions using Migrate Mate
Search Migrate Mate to filter Workday's current HR openings by visa sponsorship type. This surfaces roles where sponsorship is actively offered, so you're not guessing which positions will support your situation.
Raise sponsorship directly before the offer stage
Workday's recruiting process moves quickly. Confirm that the specific HR role you're interviewing for is eligible for your visa type early, so the offer letter and USCIS petition timelines don't create last-minute conflicts.
Position people analytics experience prominently
Workday builds its own HR software, so HR candidates who can speak to data-driven workforce decisions, HRIS implementation, or systems like Workday HCM stand out. Frame this experience clearly in your resume before your first screen.

Find Human Resources at Workday JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Workday sponsor H-1B visas for Human Resources roles?
Yes, Workday sponsors H-1B visas for Human Resources positions. HR roles such as HR Business Partner, Talent Acquisition, and People Operations typically qualify as specialty occupations when they require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field like Human Resources, Business Administration, or Organizational Psychology. Confirm the specific role's eligibility with Workday's recruiting team during the interview process.
How do I apply for Human Resources jobs at Workday?
Apply directly through Workday's careers portal, or use Migrate Mate to browse their current HR openings filtered by visa sponsorship type. Tailor your resume to reflect U.S.-centric HR experience, including familiarity with HRIS systems, compliance frameworks, and any people analytics work. Workday's HR hiring process typically includes a recruiter screen, panel interviews, and a case or presentation component.
Which visa types does Workday commonly sponsor for Human Resources positions?
Workday sponsors H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for HR roles, and supports Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-tenure employees. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying HR occupations. F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates entering HR coordinator or talent acquisition roles before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
What qualifications does Workday expect for HR roles requiring sponsorship?
Workday's HR roles generally require a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field. For mid-level and senior positions, relevant experience in HR business partnering, talent programs, or workforce planning at a technology company is a strong differentiator. Familiarity with Workday's own HCM platform is frequently listed as a preferred qualification and can meaningfully strengthen your candidacy.
How do visa sponsorship timelines affect when I can start an HR role at Workday?
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start under the annual lottery. If you're transitioning from OPT, cap-gap protection under USCIS rules lets you continue working beyond your OPT expiration if your petition was timely filed. For roles outside the cap, such as with cap-exempt employers or TN filings, timelines are shorter and start dates are more flexible.
