About the team
The Agentic AI Experience team sits at the forefront of Zillow's transformation toward an agentic product experience—shaping how new AI capabilities come to life through natural, multimodal conversations and dynamic UIs, while serving as stewards of the framework that enables teams across Zillow to contribute to a seamless, unified experience. We operate at the intersection of product and platform: shipping meaningful experiences today while building the durable foundation that allows Zillow to build more, faster, tomorrow.
About the role
We are looking for a Senior Manager of Software Development Engineering to lead the frontend engineers on the Agentic AI Experience team across web, iOS, and Android.
You will manage the team responsible for the UX of Zillow’s AI Mode across web and mobile — a multimodal, context-aware experience that other Zillow teams are actively integrating into their own surfaces. The scope ahead extends well beyond today’s conversational interface, and much of it remains to be defined; this role is an opportunity to help shape what agentic AI experiences look like for one of the most consequential decisions people make in their lives.
- Lead and grow a team of 6–10 frontend engineers spanning web, iOS, and Android, fostering a culture of craft, cross-platform collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Evolve and extend the UX for Zillow's AI Mode across platforms — owning sprint planning, roadmap execution, and cross-team coordination to continuously improve and expand one of Zillow's most high-visibility product experiences.
- Develop and coach your engineers — providing consistent feedback, supporting career growth, and creating an environment where people do their best work and feel a clear path forward.
- Partner across product, design, AI/ML, and peer engineering teams — aligning on requirements, establishing consistent UX principles across platforms, and driving integrated agentic experiences to production.
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.
In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $206,700.00 - $330,300.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.
In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont the standard base pay range for this role is $196,400.00 - $313,800.00 annually. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.
Who you are
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful hands-on work in frontend development for web (React, TypeScript, CSS) and/or mobile (iOS/Swift, Android/Kotlin, or cross-platform frameworks).
- 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, with a demonstrated track record of developing and retaining strong engineers.
- A people-first leader with genuine technical credibility in frontend development — you've shipped rich user-facing experiences on web and/or mobile and use that experience to guide your team without micromanaging.
- A champion for user experience quality — you hold a high bar for what great frontend work looks and feels like across web and mobile surfaces, and you bring the cross-platform perspective to keep those experiences consistent.
- A coach and developer of talent who takes pride in seeing your engineers grow, receive promotions, and build rewarding careers.
- A collaborative partner who builds trust across functions — product, design, AI/ML, and peer engineering teams — and drives outcomes through influence rather than authority.
- A practitioner of AI-native development — you actively use AI coding tools and assistants yourself, and champion their adoption across your team as a genuine force multiplier throughout the software development lifecycle.
Preferred Skills
- Experience building or managing teams that work on AI-powered or agentic applications, including familiarity with multimodal input/output (text, voice, images) and streaming UX patterns.
- Experience leading cross-platform frontend teams and navigating the trade-offs between platform-native and shared-component approaches.

Tips for Finding Engineering Jobs at Zillow
Tailor your resume to Zillow's tech stack
Zillow's Engineering roles frequently require experience with large-scale distributed systems, real estate data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. Align your resume to reflect these patterns before applying, since generic software resumes don't signal fit for a product-led real estate platform.
Verify your OPT timeline before interviews start
If you're on F-1 OPT, calculate your remaining authorization window before your first Zillow interview. USCIS requires cap-subject H-1B petitions to be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start, so your OPT must cover the gap.
Target teams with ongoing infrastructure buildouts
Zillow regularly staffs engineering headcount around major platform initiatives like its AI-driven search and listing tools. Applying to teams in active product development cycles increases the likelihood that a role includes sponsorship bandwidth in the hiring plan.
Ask recruiters specifically about LCA filing timelines
Before accepting an offer, confirm when your employer plans to file the Labor Condition Application with DOL. LCA certification is required before USCIS can adjudicate your H-1B petition, and delays here can compress your start date significantly.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Engineering roles at Zillow
Sponsorship-eligible Engineering positions at Zillow aren't always labeled as such on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles at Zillow that align with your visa type so you're applying where your status is already accounted for.
Prepare credential documentation for specialty occupation review
H-1B approval for Engineering roles depends on demonstrating the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria. Gather your degree transcripts, any equivalency evaluations, and role-specific evidence showing the job requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Zillow sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Zillow sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. The company has a consistent pattern of filing H-1B petitions for software engineers, data engineers, and related technical positions. If you're in the H-1B lottery or transferring an existing visa, Engineering roles at Zillow are among the more sponsorship-friendly positions the company hires for.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Zillow?
You can apply directly through Zillow's careers portal. Filter by Engineering and review the job description carefully for any language about sponsorship eligibility. Migrate Mate also surfaces Zillow Engineering roles filtered by visa type, which makes it easier to confirm a position aligns with your authorization before you apply.
Which visa types does Zillow commonly sponsor for Engineering roles?
Zillow sponsors several visa categories for Engineering positions, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visa. For longer-term employment authorization, the company also supports Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 PERM-based sponsorship, which is relevant for engineers who want to pursue permanent residency through their employer.
What qualifications are expected for Engineering roles at Zillow?
Most Engineering roles at Zillow require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical field. For H-1B purposes, the degree must align directly with the job duties, so roles in data infrastructure or platform engineering typically require specific engineering or applied mathematics credentials rather than a general technology degree.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap and Zillow's hiring cycle?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March, with petitions filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. If you're targeting a Zillow Engineering role on a new H-1B, plan to be in the interview process by late 2025 or early 2026 to allow time for an offer, LCA certification with DOL, and petition filing before the cap-subject deadline.
