As a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Unarmed Patrol Compliance in SAN JOSE, CA, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking-up additional shifts when it works for you.
Pay Rate: $22.00 / Hour

How This Role Works:
- Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
- Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It’s all up to you.
This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.
Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service to museum visitors, staff, volunteers, and vendors while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of galleries, public spaces, entrances, administrative areas, and the building perimeter to help identify unusual activity, unauthorized access, or facility concerns.
- Monitor visitor flow and observe museum spaces to help protect artwork, exhibits, and property while maintaining a professional, welcoming presence.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, medical situations, and other critical events in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established post orders and notification procedures.
- Document patrols, incidents, and security-related observations accurately and communicate relevant information to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.
Minimum Requirements:
- Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
- A guard card or license is preferred.
- Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- A state, county, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
