Who's Hiring

Construction Jobs in Knoxville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction job in Knoxville?
Knoxville's construction market is driven by residential growth in suburban areas like Farragut and Hardin Valley, commercial development downtown, and ongoing infrastructure projects tied to the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge corridor. General contractors, civil construction firms, and specialty subcontractors in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC hire consistently. Candidates with documented field experience, OSHA 10 or 30 certification, and reliable transportation to suburban project sites have a clear edge over applicants who lack those basics.
Which companies hire constructions in Knoxville?
Employers hiring constructions in Knoxville right now include S&ME, B&B Concrete, and Taurus Staffing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Knoxville's market features a mix of regional general contractors, national firms with local offices, and specialty trade subcontractors serving both the residential boom in the western suburbs and commercial projects closer to downtown.
Are there remote construction jobs in Knoxville?
Yes, though remote opportunities in construction are limited by nature, since most roles require physical presence on job sites. About 100% of construction openings tied to Knoxville are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, concentrated in roles like project management, estimating, scheduling, and construction technology rather than field or trades positions.
How can I get a construction job in Knoxville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Knoxville is through a laborer or construction helper role with a regional general contractor or residential homebuilder active in West Knoxville and the surrounding growth areas. Local trade apprenticeship programs through the East Tennessee workforce development system provide structured on-the-job training for electrical, plumbing, and carpentry trades. Showing up reliably, holding a valid driver's license, and being available for early morning starts on suburban sites will set an entry-level candidate apart quickly.
