Construction Manager Jobs in Baltimore: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction manager job in Baltimore?
Focus on sectors driving the most Baltimore hiring: commercial real estate development along the waterfront, hospital and university facility expansion, and public infrastructure tied to city and state contracts. General contractors managing large mixed-use or institutional projects are the most active employers. Candidates with experience on urban infill or occupied-facility builds stand out here, as do those familiar with Baltimore City permitting processes and MWBOO compliance requirements.
Which companies hire construction managers in Baltimore?
Employers hiring construction managers in Baltimore right now include Hays, US LBM, and Ameresco, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Baltimore's market is anchored by general contractors, regional development firms, and large healthcare and university systems managing ongoing capital programs.
Are there remote construction manager jobs in Baltimore?
Yes, but only for certain functions. Construction management is largely a site-dependent role, so fully remote positions are rare. About 37% of construction manager openings tied to Baltimore are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, mostly covering pre-construction planning, estimating, and owner's representative work. Active site supervision and project coordination in Baltimore's dense urban projects nearly always require a consistent on-site presence.
How can I get a construction manager job in Baltimore with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Baltimore is through an assistant project manager or field engineer role with a regional general contractor working on the city's ongoing healthcare or commercial development projects. Johns Hopkins Health System, the University of Maryland Medical Center, and large mixed-use developers frequently hire junior project staff. Familiarity with scheduling software, a construction management degree, and any hands-on site experience from internships or co-ops give early-career candidates a clear edge locally.
Which industries hire the most construction managers in Baltimore?
Most construction manager openings in Baltimore sit in Manufacturing and Staffing & Recruiting, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Baltimore's sustained investment in waterfront redevelopment, major medical center expansions, and federally funded port and transit infrastructure keeps demand for construction managers concentrated in those sectors.
