Construction Manager Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction manager job in Seattle?
Focus on the sectors driving Seattle's construction boom: commercial office and mixed-use development in South Lake Union, light rail and transit infrastructure through Sound Transit expansion, and multifamily residential projects across Capitol Hill and First Hill. General contractors and large development firms hire the most, and candidates with LEED credentials or experience managing union subcontractors stand out in this market. Familiarity with Seattle's permitting process through the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections is a real differentiator.
Which companies hire construction managers in Seattle?
Companies currently hiring construction managers in Seattle include Amazon, Amazon Web Services, and Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Seattle's market includes a mix of national general contractors with regional offices, local commercial developers, and public agencies managing large civic and transit infrastructure projects.
Are there remote construction manager jobs in Seattle?
Yes, but they are limited given the hands-on, site-dependent nature of most construction manager roles. About 23% of construction manager openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve preconstruction planning, estimating, or program oversight rather than active site management. Owner's representative and program management roles at Seattle's larger development firms and public agencies are the most likely to offer hybrid arrangements.
How can I get a construction manager job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Seattle is starting as an assistant project manager or field engineer with a mid-size general contractor working in multifamily or commercial tenant improvement, sectors with consistent volume and a reputation for developing junior talent. Candidates who have completed an internship through the University of Washington's construction management program carry real name recognition with local employers. Pursuing an entry-level role on Sound Transit or Seattle Public Utilities projects is another strong route, as public-sector projects often have structured career ladders and hire frequently.
Which industries hire the most construction managers in Seattle?
Seattle construction manager roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Retail, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Seattle's sustained investment in transit infrastructure, life sciences campuses in South Lake Union, and high-density residential development across the urban core keeps demand across these sectors consistently high.
