Mid Level Construction Project Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level construction project engineer job?
Position your experience around ownership and outcomes, not just tasks. Highlight projects where you managed schedules, budgets, or subcontractor coordination directly. Employers at this level want to see that you can run a project phase with limited oversight, resolve field issues independently, and communicate clearly with owners and trades. Tailor your resume to show scope managed, not just duties performed.
Which companies hire mid level construction project engineers?
Companies hiring mid level construction project engineers right now include Jobot, MBACSi, and Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a broad mix of general contractors, specialty subcontractors, owner-operators, and engineering firms managing commercial, infrastructure, and industrial builds.
Are there remote mid level construction project engineer jobs?
Yes, though most roles in this field involve significant on-site presence. About 10% of mid level construction project engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to focus on preconstruction, estimating, or project controls rather than active field supervision. Fully remote roles exist but are less common than in other engineering disciplines.
How do I move up to a mid level construction project engineer role?
The path from entry level to mid level is built on progressively taking ownership of project phases. Early on, focus on mastering scheduling tools, RFI and submittal workflows, and subcontractor coordination. Over time, seek out opportunities to lead a project section independently, document measurable outcomes like cost savings or schedule recovery, and demonstrate that you can manage competing priorities without constant direction.
Which industries hire the most mid level construction project engineers?
Mid Level construction project engineer roles concentrate in Construction & Real Estate, Consulting & Professional Services, and Staffing & Recruiting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive consistent hiring at the mid level because they run large, multi-phase projects that require engineers who can manage day-to-day execution while supporting senior project managers on scope, cost, and quality control.
