Entry Level Controller Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level controller job?
Focus on building hands-on experience through internships, campus accounting roles, or volunteer bookkeeping work before you apply. Employers hiring at this level look for familiarity with general ledger software, month-end close processes, and basic financial reporting. A degree in accounting or finance is the most common baseline, and candidates who can demonstrate practical reconciliation or audit-support experience tend to stand out in a competitive applicant pool.
Which companies hire entry level controllers?
Companies hiring entry level controllers right now include Standish Management, JPMorganChase, and Jobot, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. A broad mix of employers hires at this level, from growing mid-size businesses building out their finance teams to larger organizations with structured rotational or staff accounting programs that feed into controller tracks.
Are there remote entry level controller jobs?
Yes, though remote options are more limited at this stage than at senior levels. About 16% of entry level controller openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements being the more common setup for early-career roles where on-site mentorship and systems access matter to employers.
Are these new grad controller jobs?
Yes, many listings on this page are new grad and junior roles that explicitly welcome recent graduates and candidates with little or no professional experience. A new grad-friendly posting typically asks for zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or part-time accounting work as qualifying background, and values a relevant degree or coursework over a lengthy work history.
Which industries hire the most entry level controllers?
Entry level controller roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Education, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to drive hiring at this level because they operate with high transaction volumes, regulatory reporting requirements, or rapid growth that creates consistent demand for junior finance and accounting talent.
