Controls Engineer Jobs in Dallas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a controls engineer job in Dallas?
Target Dallas's strongest hiring sectors: oil and gas infrastructure, commercial building automation, food and beverage manufacturing, and industrial automation integrators concentrated in Las Colinas and the Alliance corridor. Candidates with hands-on PLC programming experience, familiarity with Rockwell or Siemens platforms, and exposure to SCADA systems consistently stand out. Networking through local chapters of ISA or attending DFW manufacturing meetups accelerates referrals in a market where most openings fill through direct employer pipelines.
Which companies hire controls engineers in Dallas?
Dallas controls engineer roles are posted by PwC, TDIndustries, and Jobot and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. The Dallas market is especially active among large industrial automation integrators, energy infrastructure firms, and commercial facilities management companies with campuses in and around Las Colinas and Plano.
Are there remote controls engineer jobs in Dallas?
Yes, but only partially: controls engineering is largely hands-on, so fully remote roles are uncommon, though project management, programming review, and commissioning prep work can be done off-site. About 14% of controls engineer openings tied to Dallas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, skewing toward larger firms in the Plano and Las Colinas tech corridors where systems design and software work can be performed off-site.
How can I get a controls engineer job in Dallas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Dallas is through automation integrators and building systems contractors that regularly hire junior controls technicians and associate engineers willing to learn on the job. Target mid-size integrators in Irving and Garland that work across multiple industries, since they offer the broadest exposure. A two-year technician credential from a North Texas community college, combined with a personal PLC project portfolio on GitHub, gives entry-level candidates a concrete edge over applicants with only coursework.
Which industries hire the most controls engineers in Dallas?
The sectors hiring the most controls engineers in Dallas are Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Dallas's role as a regional hub for energy infrastructure, large-scale commercial construction, and food processing plants drives sustained demand across all three sectors, with the Alliance corridor and south Dallas industrial zones anchoring much of the manufacturing and logistics activity.
