ASIC Design Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a asic design engineer in Texas?
Becoming an asic design engineer in Texas starts with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering from an accredited program, with many senior roles requiring a master's degree. No state-issued license is required for this role in Texas. Employers in Austin, Dallas, and Houston typically look for hands-on RTL design coursework, internship experience with semiconductor companies, and proficiency in industry EDA tools as the core entry qualifications.
Which companies hire asic design engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring asic design engineers in Texas right now include NVIDIA, Meta, and Apple, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Texas's large concentration of semiconductor, defense electronics, and wireless technology firms makes it one of the most consistent states for sustained asic design engineer hiring.
Which Texas cities have the most asic design engineer jobs?
Austin, Texas, and Central have the most asic design engineer openings in Texas. Austin dominates due to its dense semiconductor cluster anchored by Texas Instruments and Samsung, while Dallas draws from a broad base of defense, telecom, and fabless chip companies, and Houston contributes demand through energy-sector electronics and embedded systems employers.
Are there remote asic design engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. ASIC design is fundamentally hands-on work tied to proprietary EDA tool licenses, secure lab environments, and tapeout collaboration, which limits fully remote arrangements. About 25% of asic design engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with verification and front-end RTL roles most likely to offer partial flexibility compared to physical design or layout positions.
How can I get hired as a asic design engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a university internship or co-op with one of Texas's established semiconductor employers during your degree program. Texas Instruments, NXP, and Samsung Austin Semiconductor all run structured new-graduate programs that hire directly into junior design or verification roles. Candidates who have completed tape-out projects, contributed to university chip design teams, or earned proficiency in Cadence or Synopsys tools stand out significantly against other entry-level applicants.
Where can I find and apply to asic design engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to asic design engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across Austin, Dallas, Houston, and beyond. Search the roles that fit your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that match.
