Description
The AI Engineering Co-Op will collaborate with the Data Engineering & Analytics Team, which focuses on leveraging cutting-edge artificial intelligence to address real-world challenges and deliver value to the Diversified Analog Solutions Operations Team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying state-of-the-art AI solutions that power our services. You will design, implement, and optimize systems for deploying and serving AI models across Skyworks on end-to-end projects.
Term: Summer/Fall Co-Op (June '26 - Dec '26)
Required Experience and Skills
- Currently pursuing an M.S. in Statistics, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- Able to commit to the full duration onsite of the co-op opportunity (up to 6 months: June 2026 to December 2026).
Desired Experience and Skills
- AI Experience and Interest: Experience with generative AI, large language model, or advanced NLP systems, and a strong willingness to learn AI innovation.
- Full-Stack Development: Exposure to front-end development or full-stack experience is a plus, especially involving integration of AI models into products.
- Backend Development Expertise: Strong experience with Python for building APIs using frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI.
- Familiarity with deploying AI/ML models via RESTful endpoints is required.
- Cloud Platforms Experience: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS is a plus.
- Database Management Knowledge: A basic understanding of database interactions for storing and retrieving data is preferred.
The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.

The job description you submit to your DSO must map specific duties to specific coursework, not just reference AI broadly.
Can I do CPT for an AI Solution Architect role at a startup or consulting firm?
Yes, CPT has no employer-size requirement. Startups and consulting firms qualify as long as the work is integral to your curriculum and your DSO authorizes it. Consulting arrangements where you're embedded with a client on a specific AI architecture project are generally approvable, but your employment agreement should name the actual worksite and scope so your DSO can evaluate the fit.
What happens if my AI Solution Architect CPT role shifts to a different project mid-semester?
A significant change in duties or worksite may require a new CPT authorization from your DSO. If your role moves from, say, designing an NLP pipeline to leading a cloud infrastructure migration, ask your DSO whether the updated scope still maps to your authorized CPT. Working outside your authorized terms puts your F-1 status at risk.
