Walker Consultants seeks a motivated Parking and Mobility Project Manager to join in growing our West Region market. We’re seeking an experienced professional with proven project management and business development experience. As a project manager and consultant, you will lead and support a wide range of projects—from downtown transportation and parking studies to mobility master plans, TDM, shared mobility studies, zero emissions fleet transition plans, micro-mobility plans, bicycle, and pedestrian plans. This role will require developing new business for our planning practice services. We want someone who is curious, motivated, and passionate.

Responsibilities of the Role

- Managing small and mid-size transportation, parking and mobility projects for public sector and private sector clients, such as supply and demand analysis, operational analyses, master plans, implementation and action plans, and more.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to connect with a broad range of clients.
- Ability to manage the financial and schedule elements of the project.
- Maintaining strong relationships in the industry and with our clients.
- Lending skill and expertise to larger transportation, parking and mobility projects led by senior staff, with a focus on parking and curbside management, operation and technology, data collection and analysis, and transportation planning.
- Leading and/or supporting community engagement, awareness and collaboration efforts in line with our national community engagement policies and practices.
- Preparing and presenting technical reports, memos, presentations, and other documents in a way that represents our work well and is digestible to a wide range of audiences, from CEOs and City Councils to non-technical members of our community.
- Assisting with marketing activities, including writing proposals and participating in interviews.
- Business development activities by identifying leads through your network and helping to respond to RFP/RFQ’s.
- Proactively meeting with new or repeat clients to generate new business.
- Participating in networking activities and representing our firm at local and regional industry meetings and conferences.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience managing projects (schedule, budget, client relationships, deliverables).
- 5 or more years of experience in parking, mobility, curbside and/or transportation planning.
- Education Requirements: Accredited bachelor’s degree or higher in appropriate fields of study such as urban planning or transportation.
- Demonstrated excellent written, verbal, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to analyze large data sets and provide technical analysis.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel.
- 3 or more years of experience at a consulting/professional services firm.

Can I do full-time CPT as a Manager - Consulting intern and still keep my OPT?
You can do full-time CPT, but if the cumulative total of full-time CPT reaches 12 months or more, you forfeit your OPT eligibility entirely. This is a firm rule under F-1 regulations, not a discretionary judgment. Many graduate students in consulting programs structure CPT as part-time or limit full-time CPT to less than 12 months specifically to preserve OPT for post-graduation H-1B cap-gap protection.
What does my employer need to do to support my CPT for a consulting manager position?
Your employer doesn't file anything with USCIS for CPT. They need to provide a written offer letter specifying your job title, start date, work hours, and work location so your DSO can update your I-20. Some schools also require a signed employer statement confirming the role is integral to your curriculum. The firm doesn't need to be an H-1B sponsor to hire you on CPT, but the offer documentation must be in place before your I-20 is updated.
Can I use CPT for a remote consulting manager role, and does location affect my I-20?
Remote CPT work is permitted at many schools, but your DSO must authorize the specific work location on your I-20. If the consulting role is fully remote, your I-20 will typically reflect your school's address or your U.S. residence address. If the employer is headquartered in a different state, confirm with your DSO whether the location listed on the offer letter needs to match what appears on your I-20 to avoid any compliance issues during onboarding.
