Does a Supply Chain Director role qualify for CPT?
Yes, if your graduate program includes coursework in supply chain strategy, operations management, or procurement that directly maps to the job responsibilities. Your DSO will evaluate whether the position integrates with your curriculum, roles focused on vendor management, logistics optimization, or demand planning for graduate students in operations or MBA programs typically qualify.
Can I do CPT for a Supply Chain Director role at a company that doesn't typically hire interns?
CPT authorization doesn't require the employer to have a formal internship program. What matters is that the role is integral to your curriculum and your school approves it. Director-level CPT placements are more common in graduate programs than undergrad, especially in MBA and supply chain MS programs where practicum work is built into the degree structure.
How do I find Supply Chain Director CPT jobs with employers who sponsor visas long-term?
Use Migrate Mate to search Supply Chain Director roles filtered by employers with sponsorship history. Companies that have filed LCAs or PERM applications for supply chain positions in the past are your most realistic path to long-term work authorization after your CPT and OPT periods end.
What happens to my CPT authorization if the Supply Chain Director role changes scope mid-engagement?
CPT authorization is specific to the job description your DSO approved. If your responsibilities shift significantly, for example, from domestic logistics to global procurement strategy, you'll need to update your DSO and potentially get a new I-20 reflecting the revised role. Failing to update authorization can create compliance issues for both you and your school.
Does full-time CPT as a Supply Chain Director affect my OPT eligibility?
Yes. Using 12 or more months of full-time CPT eliminates your standard OPT eligibility entirely. If your CPT engagement as a Supply Chain Director runs more than 12 cumulative full-time months, you won't have OPT available after graduation. Part-time CPT doesn't count toward that threshold, so structure your engagement carefully with your DSO before committing to a full-time start date.
