Get Access To All JobsField Operations Supervisor CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Field Operations Supervisor role qualify for CPT?
It depends on how closely the role aligns with your enrolled program. CPT requires the work to be an integral part of your curriculum, not just related to your field. Your DSO will evaluate the job description against your coursework. Operations management, supply chain, industrial engineering, and business administration programs typically have the clearest curricular ties to this role.
How do I find Field Operations Supervisor jobs open to CPT students?
Migrate Mate lists Field Operations Supervisor positions from employers with international student hiring history, so you can focus on companies already familiar with CPT work authorization. Look for postings that explicitly mention F-1 or CPT eligibility, and confirm the employer's E-Verify enrollment before applying, since many operations roles involve sites that require it.
Can I work full-time as a Field Operations Supervisor on CPT?
Yes, but full-time CPT comes with a significant trade-off. If you accumulate 12 or more months of full-time CPT, you lose your OPT eligibility entirely after graduation. Part-time CPT, regardless of total duration, does not affect OPT. If you're planning to use OPT for H-1B visa sponsorship later, factor this into your CPT structure before accepting a full-time offer.
What documents does my employer need to see before I start?
Your employer needs your CPT-endorsed I-20, which lists the employer's name, authorized dates, and whether the position is full-time or part-time. They'll also verify your work authorization through Form I-9. For operations roles at federal contractor sites, your employer may separately require E-Verify confirmation. Give your employer a copy of the CPT I-20 page before your first scheduled shift.
Will this job lead to H-1B sponsorship after CPT ends?
CPT does not create a path to H-1B sponsorship on its own, but strong performance in a Field Operations Supervisor role can lead an employer to sponsor you for OPT and later H-1B. Operations roles typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards when the position requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, which is the foundation of any H-1B petition.
