At MBE CPAs, interns are treated as part of the team from day one. You'll gain hands-on experience working alongside department leaders and professionals who are invested in your growth while contributing to meaningful projects across the organization. Along the way, you'll build professional connections and gain exposure to potential career opportunities within MBE and the affiliate group.
As a Business Operations intern, you'll gain exposure to the behind-the-scenes operations that help keep teams, clients, and workflows moving efficiently. This internship offers insight into administrative processes, business operations and the systems that support daily activities across the organization.
What you'll do:
- Support document workflows through scanning and organizing client documents
- Setting up client accounts
- Assembling completed returns
- Provide overall administrative and client support when needed
SkillsQualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in business administration, accounting communications, or related field
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and client confidentiality
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office products
- Adaptable and willing to assist with changing priorities and team needs
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Schedule: Full-time internships follow a Monday - Friday schedule averaging 40 hours a week. Admin interns are expected to work onsite at their selected location during normal business hours. Specific schedules may vary based on office needs and workload. Some flexibility is available to accommodate class schedule.

Yes, if your degree program includes coursework in business administration, operations management, or a related field and the job is listed as an integral curriculum requirement. Your DSO makes the final determination based on your specific program. Roles with vague or generic job descriptions are harder to authorize, so ask your employer to specify duties that map to your coursework before submitting the CPT request.
Can I work full-time as a Business Operations Manager on CPT?
Full-time CPT is permitted but carries a significant consequence: 12 months or more of full-time CPT disqualifies you from OPT entirely. Part-time CPT, defined as 20 hours or fewer per week, does not count against your OPT eligibility. If you're planning to use OPT or STEM OPT after graduation, structure your CPT engagement to stay under that 12-month full-time threshold.

What happens to my CPT authorization if my Business Operations Manager role changes significantly?
If your responsibilities shift substantially, for example, from process improvement to financial analysis, your DSO may need to reauthorize CPT to reflect the updated duties. Changes in employer, work location, or employment dates also require a new CPT authorization and an updated I-20. Working outside the scope of your authorized CPT terms is a status violation, so notify your DSO before any material change takes effect.
