Get Access To All JobsWarehouse Lead CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Warehouse Lead role qualify for CPT authorization?
It can, but your school's DSO makes the final call based on whether the role directly supports your curriculum. Warehouse Lead positions are most defensible for supply chain management, operations management, logistics, or industrial engineering students. Document how specific duties, like workforce scheduling, inventory systems, or process improvement, connect to your coursework before requesting DSO approval.
Can I work as a Warehouse Lead on part-time CPT while still enrolled full-time?
Yes. Part-time CPT allows up to 20 hours per week while you maintain full-time enrollment. Many Warehouse Lead roles involve shift work or variable scheduling, so confirm with your employer that they can accommodate a capped weekly schedule. Your I-20 will specify part-time or full-time CPT, and working beyond that authorization is a status violation.
How do I find Warehouse Lead employers who are familiar with CPT hiring?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way, since it surfaces employers with a track record of hiring international students and sponsoring work visas. Beyond that, large third-party logistics companies and regional distribution centers tend to have HR teams experienced with work authorization paperwork, so they're less likely to withdraw an offer once they understand CPT.
Will using 12 months of full-time CPT affect my OPT eligibility after graduation?
Yes. If you accumulate 12 months or more of full-time CPT, you become ineligible for OPT. Part-time CPT, regardless of how long you use it, does not affect OPT eligibility. If you're considering a Warehouse Lead role as full-time CPT for an extended period, plan your post-graduation work authorization strategy with your DSO before accepting the offer.
What documents does a Warehouse Lead employer need from me before I start on CPT?
You'll need to provide your updated I-20 with the CPT authorization endorsed by your DSO, your valid F-1 visa stamp, and your passport. Some employers also request an offer letter that matches the employer name, job title, and dates on your I-20 exactly. Mismatches between your authorization documents and the offer letter can create E-Verify issues on your first day, so verify all details before HR submits.
