Get Access To All JobsCustomer Success Operations CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Customer Success Operations role qualify for CPT?
It depends on your program. CPT must be an integral part of your curriculum, not just related to your field. If your degree is in business analytics, information systems, or operations management, a Customer Success Operations role typically qualifies. Your DSO makes the final determination, and your offer letter must describe duties that map to specific courses in your program.
Can I do CPT for a Customer Success Operations internship while still in classes?
Yes. Part-time CPT, defined as fewer than 20 hours per week, runs concurrently with your coursework and doesn't affect your OPT eligibility as long as total CPT across all semesters stays under 12 months full-time equivalent. Confirm the hours and academic term with your DSO before accepting the offer, since part-time CPT authorization is tied to a specific semester.
What documentation does my employer need to provide for CPT authorization?
Your employer needs to supply a signed offer letter that includes the job title, start and end dates, weekly hours, and a description of duties. Many DSOs also require the letter to state explicitly how the role connects to your academic program. Ask the hiring manager to include a sentence linking Customer Success Operations responsibilities to your major's learning outcomes.
How do I find Customer Success Operations jobs at companies that sponsor work visas?
Use Migrate Mate to search Customer Success Operations roles filtered by employers with verified LCA filing history. This shows you which companies have sponsored work authorization for similar roles before, saving you from applying to employers who will decline your CPT or future H-1B visa paperwork.
Does a Customer Success Operations CPT role count toward STEM OPT eligibility?
CPT itself doesn't determine STEM OPT eligibility. What matters is whether your degree program is on the Department of Homeland Security STEM Designated Degree Program List and whether the job after graduation falls under a qualifying SOC code. Customer Success Operations roles often map to Management Analyst or Computer Occupations codes, some of which qualify. Verify your degree classification with your DSO before you commit to a full-time CPT arrangement that could eliminate OPT altogether.
