CPT Procurement Jobs
Procurement CPT roles give F-1 students hands-on experience in sourcing, supplier negotiation, and supply chain operations, work that must tie directly to your degree program. Your DSO authorizes CPT before your start date, and each employer engagement requires a separate authorization. Part-time CPT (under 20 hours weekly) keeps your full-time CPT eligibility intact for later.

Get Access To All JobsProcurement CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a procurement internship qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if the role is directly tied to your degree program and listed as a curricular requirement or elective credit. Supply chain management, operations, and business administration programs typically satisfy this connection for procurement roles. Your DSO makes the final determination, so bring your offer letter and course syllabus to the authorization meeting.
Can I do CPT in procurement if my degree is in a related field like business analytics?
CPT eligibility depends on whether the job duties connect to your specific program, not just your general field. A procurement analyst role emphasizing data-driven sourcing decisions can satisfy CPT requirements for a business analytics degree if your DSO confirms the connection. Document the overlap between your coursework and the role's core responsibilities before requesting authorization.
How do I find procurement employers who understand F-1 CPT?
Search Migrate Mate to browse procurement postings filtered for employers with work-authorization experience. Larger corporations with global supply chains and dedicated HR teams are generally more familiar with CPT paperwork than small or mid-size firms. Asking directly whether the employer has hired F-1 students before saves time early in the process.
What happens to my CPT authorization if my procurement role changes scope after I start?
CPT authorization is tied to the specific job duties and employer listed on your I-20. If your role shifts significantly, such as moving from sourcing support to contract management, your DSO may need to issue a new CPT authorization before you take on the new responsibilities. Notify your DSO promptly rather than waiting until your next check-in.
Does full-time CPT in procurement affect my OPT eligibility?
Full-time CPT totaling 12 months or more eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely. Part-time CPT, defined as fewer than 20 hours per week, does not count against that threshold regardless of how many semesters you complete it. If you plan to use OPT after graduation, structure your procurement CPT as part-time from the start.
