CPT Logistics Specialist Jobs
Logistics Specialist roles involve coordinating supply chains, managing freight documentation, and optimizing delivery workflows, all tasks that map directly to supply chain, operations, and business degree programs. CPT authorization requires your DSO to confirm the role is an integral part of your curriculum, so bring a job description that shows operational or analytical responsibilities.

Does a Logistics Specialist role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if the role involves supply chain coordination, freight management, inventory analysis, or operations planning and your degree program includes coursework in those areas. Your DSO makes the final determination based on the job description and your academic program. Roles that are purely clerical with no analytical component are harder to justify as integral to a business or supply chain curriculum.
Can I do CPT at a freight brokerage or third-party logistics company?
Yes. Third-party logistics providers and freight brokerages are common CPT employers for supply chain and business students. The employer type doesn't restrict CPT eligibility. What matters is whether the duties on your offer letter connect to your curriculum. Roles involving carrier negotiations, shipment tracking, or customs documentation are generally strong fits for supply chain degree programs.
How do I find Logistics Specialist employers who are familiar with CPT?
Search for Logistics Specialist openings on Migrate Mate, which shows employers with international student hiring history. You can also ask during the interview whether the company has onboarded CPT or OPT students before. Employers who've done it once have the I-9 and E-Verify process figured out, which means fewer delays once you have your updated I-20 in hand.
What happens to my CPT authorization if my logistics internship extends beyond the original end date?
Your current CPT authorization becomes invalid the moment your I-20 end date passes. You need a new CPT authorization from your DSO before you continue working. That means a new offer letter or extension letter from the employer, a new DSO meeting, and an updated I-20 with the new end date. Working even one day past your authorized period is an unauthorized employment violation.
Can I work full-time as a Logistics Specialist on CPT during the summer?
Full-time CPT is allowed during summer if your school permits it and your DSO authorizes it. The critical rule is cumulative: if you accumulate 12 months or more of full-time CPT across any combination of terms, you forfeit your OPT eligibility entirely. Many students in multi-semester logistics internship programs hit this limit without realizing it, so track your total full-time CPT days carefully.
