Innodata (Nasdaq: INOD) is a global data engineering company. We believe that data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are inextricably linked. Our mission is to enable the responsible advancement of artificial intelligence by providing the data, evaluation frameworks, and human expertise required to build AI systems that can be trusted at scale. We provide a range of transferable solutions, platforms, and services for Generative AI / AI builders and adopters. In every relationship, we honor our 36+ year legacy delivering the highest quality data and outstanding outcomes for our customers.
Scope of the Role:
The next frontier for AI is the physical world, and Innodata is building the data factory that powers Physical AI for frontier robotics and humanoid systems. As a Robotics Solutions Engineer, you will be a trusted technical partner to some of the world's most innovative robotics and model‑building teams, combining hands‑on robotics/data engineering with a customer‑facing, pre‑sales to post-sales mindset. You will design and showcase data capture solutions, lead technical pilots, samples, and demos, and help customers turn real‑world robotics problems into concrete datasets, pipelines, and evaluation strategies that unlock real model and business impact. This is a high‑visibility role that directly influences strategic deals and long‑term partnerships.
What You'll Own:
Collaborate with Innodata Client Partners to scope and deliver technical pilots and POCs, earning the "technical win" with new and existing robotics customers.
Work closely with Engineering and Product to design and implement robotics data capture solutions (real‑world, lab, and simulation), including sensors/rigs, teleop/UMI flows, and egocentric capture pipelines.
Collaborate directly with customers' robotics and ML teams to understand their architectures (VLMs, VLAs, ACTs, world models, policies), define data and evaluation requirements, design execution plans, and translate them into actionable Statements of Work.
Design and run customized demos, playbooks, and experimental workflows that showcase robotics data capabilities and shorten the time from idea to production pilot.
Act as the technical owner of the customer experience: unblock integrations, debug data/workflow issues, and advise on best practices for data quality, coverage, and evaluation.
Collaborate closely with Robotics Project Leads to ensure clean handoff from pre‑sales design to delivery, align on scope and success metrics, and support smooth execution of data collection programs.
Bring structured, frontline feedback from customers back into Innodata's product and roadmap discussions, helping shape a scalable Robotics & Physical AI data practice and platform.
Represent Innodata at key industry events, conferences, and workshops, and contribute as a thought leader through talks, blog posts, and open artifacts that share learnings from our robotics data work.
You'll Thrive in This Role If You Have:
Strong engineering background in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience developing with Python and one or more additional languages commonly used in robotics/ML (e.g., C++, Java), plus comfort working in Linux‑based environments.
Hands‑on experience with robotics or Physical AI systems (e.g., perception/control stacks, teleoperation, simulation, or robotics data pipelines).
Desire to conduct ongoing research and be a thought leader in world models and robotics models.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the technical credibility to work with both senior executives and front‑line engineers.
Proven ability to manage complex technical projects, juggle multiple customer engagements, and operate with a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail.
High comfort working cross‑functionally with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Operations in a fast‑moving environment, including some customer travel as needed.
Prior experience in sales engineering, solutions engineering, or technical partnerships for data/AI/robotics products.
Experience selling or supporting complex technical solutions with enterprise customers.
Familiarity with large‑scale dataset design, evaluation frameworks, or robotics data marketplaces.
The expected salary range for this position is $150,000 – $230,000 USD per year, based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Are there remote mid level data collection specialist jobs?
Yes, though availability depends on the role type. About 50% of mid level data collection specialist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with fully remote positions more common in digital or survey-based data work and on-site or hybrid schedules more typical for roles involving physical field collection or equipment handling.
How do I move up to a mid level data collection specialist role?
Growth into mid level comes from building depth, not just hours. Focus on mastering collection tools and protocols in your current role, taking ownership of a full project cycle from planning through delivery, and documenting the measurable impact of your work. Demonstrating that you can catch errors proactively, mentor newer colleagues, and improve processes signals readiness for mid level responsibility.
