Data Engineering Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data engineering manager in Texas?
Data engineering manager roles in Texas do not require a state-issued license or certification, so the path runs through experience and credentials. Most Texas employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, several years of hands-on data engineering work, and a demonstrated record of technical leadership. Cloud certifications from AWS, Microsoft, or Google Cloud are widely recognized as differentiators, and Texas-based employers in regulated sectors such as energy and financial services also value familiarity with data governance frameworks.
Which companies hire data engineering managers in Texas?
Employers hiring data engineering managers in Texas right now include Apple, Charles Schwab, and EY, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's density of Fortune 500 headquarters, major energy companies, and regional financial institutions means enterprise-scale data engineering leadership roles open with consistent frequency across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most data engineering manager jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Dallas have the most data engineering manager openings in Texas. Austin's concentration of technology companies and corporate expansions drives its volume, Dallas attracts financial services and logistics firms with large data operations, and Houston's energy sector generates steady demand for data engineering leadership tied to operational analytics and infrastructure modernization.
Are there remote data engineering manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most technical leadership fields. About 21% of data engineering manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-based and platform-driven nature of the work. The parts of the role most commonly offered remotely are architecture design, team oversight, and vendor evaluation, while on-site presence is more often expected when the role involves cross-functional stakeholder alignment or regulated data environments.
How can I get hired as a data engineering manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a data engineering manager role from a senior individual contributor position such as senior data engineer or analytics engineer, then taking on informal team leadership before pursuing a formal manager title. Large Texas employers in technology and financial services, including those headquartered in Austin and Dallas, regularly post lead or staff engineer roles that serve as direct feeders to management. Building a portfolio of pipeline and platform projects and earning a cloud architecture certification gives candidates a concrete edge when making that transition.
Where can I find and apply to data engineering manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to data engineering manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across Austin, Dallas, Houston, and other markets. Find the roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly through each listing.
