ABOUT THE JOB
The Process & Systems Specialist role is designed to optimize and implement processes, systems, and chemistries that enhance operational efficiency and data quality for the home GCA team while supporting strategic initiatives across the broader Molecular Technology Hub (MTH) and S&TS organization; In this position, you contribute directly to hands‑on data generation for the home team and partner closely with data engineers, software developers, molecular biologists, and study directors to design, pilot, and deploy scalable solutions that advance Bayer’s pipeline; You are expected to view processes from both a high‑level and a technical perspective to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement, ensuring that complex workflows are translated into robust, efficient, and sustainable practices; A key expectation in this role is that you incorporate AI and other emerging technologies as core tools for process optimization in alignment with Bayer’s digital strategy, helping to shape the future of data‑driven decision‑making within the GCA team, the MTH hub, and the S&TS organization.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Process & Systems Specialist, are to:
- Contribute as part of the team to deliver data generation required for regulatory approvals;
- Understand lab workflows and develop process improvement solutions to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and enable lab success;
- Analyze process performance using KPIs and other metrics and drive process optimization using lean, agile, or hybrid methodologies;
- Enhance existing or develop new data visualization tools such as Spotfire dashboards to enable stakeholders to visualize and interpret process performance;
- Implement processes that support regulatory studies, including enhancing chemistries, validating new lab methods, and providing insight on overall lab health;
- Stay abreast of new technologies within the industry, evaluate their potential impact on the business, and create opportunities to apply new AI technologies by streamlining data practices across the organization;
- Influence alignment on digital readiness for AI and collaborate as part of the Molecular Technology Hub and S&TS to communicate and deliver solutions that align with larger digital and pipeline strategies;
- Provide support to the larger S&TS organization through maintenance of E‑Systems and instrument automation, ensuring reliable and compliant operation;
- Communicate progress and outcomes to stakeholders across the GCA team and hub leadership, ensuring transparency and shared understanding of results;
- Rapidly develop skills and learn processes to support a wide array of workflows and evolving organizational needs.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to perform lab processes and techniques such as TaqMan Endpoint PCR and DNA extraction;
- Technical understanding of molecular biology and DNA extraction and detection techniques;
- Experience in evaluating assay performance, chemistry stability, and DNA extraction methods, as well as the ability to visualize and communicate findings to stakeholders;
- Demonstrated ability to use programming languages such as Python and R;
- Experience with predictive analytics, statistical modeling, and data visualization software such as Spotfire or Microsoft Power BI;
- Experience in analyzing process performance using KPIs and other data metrics and incorporating lean and agile methodologies to drive process optimization;
- Ability to facilitate the evaluation of new technologies, roadmap alignment, and milestone planning as part of outcome‑driven groups or teams;
- Knowledge and experience with regulatory compliance policies and procedures in a GLP environment.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $78,640.00 - $117,960.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
