The AEP Data Product Owner will lead the ownership, evolution, and day-to-day stewardship of the Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) ecosystem for Ameriprise, ensuring our customer data foundation powers Real-Time CDP, Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO), and Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) capabilities across the enterprise. At Ameriprise, we are focused on personalizing the customer experience to acquire, deepen, and retain lifelong relationships by helping customers build financial confidence and achieve their life goals. The AEP Data Product Owner will play a critical role in enabling that vision by ensuring our customer data is trusted, well-governed, and activated to power personalized journeys, end-to-end measurement, and next-generation marketing experiences. It's not about the data itself, but the customer experiences that data can enable.
Key Responsibilities:
Real-Time CDP Enablement
Lead the data enablement of Real-Time CDP use cases — profile orchestration, audience creation, and real-time activation — to power personalized customer journeys.
Ensure high-fidelity behavioral and profile data is captured and mapped correctly into AEP to fuel next-generation marketing strategies across AJO, CJA, and downstream destinations.
Own a future-proof data product roadmap for AEP that prioritizes scalability, personalization at scale, and rapid deployment of new customer experience capabilities.
Data Integrity & Platform Health
Define and maintain the standard for AEP data assets — XDM schemas, identity namespaces, and profile merge policies — to keep data clean, trusted, and usable.
Monitor dataflow health; proactively identify and resolve data issues before they impact marketing performance.
Manage the lifecycle, including feature adoption, data quality standards, and governance in partnership with Technology, Privacy and Legal.
Strategic Data Liaison
Act as the primary data point of contact for Adobe — influencing product roadmap and ensuring Ameriprise's data needs are prioritized.
Partner with Technology, Marketing, and Analytics teams on customer data strategy, identity resolution, and use case enablement.
Develop data KPIs to track data quality, ingestion latency, profile health, license consumption, and the efficiency of audience activation.
License Usage & Consumption Management
Monitor AEP license consumption across profiles, data volume, compute, etc, proactively identify overage risks and lead remediation strategies.
Own data retention, TTL, and ingestion optimization decisions that keep the platform within contracted license thresholds without compromising business use cases.
Provide usage insights and forecasts to leadership to inform investment decisions, true-ups, etc.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, information systems, data science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
5 or more years of relevant experience in marketing technology, data product management, or customer data platform operations.
2 or more years of hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Platform / Real-Time CDP, including working knowledge of XDM schemas, Identity Service and Profile Service.
Proven experience owning a data product backlog and roadmap in an Agile environment.
Strong understanding of data ingestion (batch and streaming), data quality management, and identity resolution strategy.
Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven capabilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts for executive audiences.
Preferred Skills:
Adobe Certified Expert — Real-Time CDP Business Practitioner or Adobe Experience Platform credentials.
Hands-on experience with Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) and/or Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO).
Familiarity with SQL, data profiling, and data quality tools; experience with Dataiku or similar platforms.
Experience with data & analytics transformation (current-state assessment, strategy development, value case, roadmap).
Business translation skills — identifying business problems, translating them into use cases and data/mar-tech capabilities, and storytelling for leadership audiences.

Data Platform Engineer Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data platform engineer in North Carolina?
Data platform engineering has no state-issued license in North Carolina, so the path runs through education and technical credentials. Most employers in the Research Triangle and Charlotte expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Vendor certifications from AWS, Google Cloud, or Databricks carry real weight with North Carolina hiring managers, particularly in financial services and life sciences firms that require demonstrated cloud platform competency before extending offers.
How much do data platform engineers make in North Carolina?
Data platform engineers in North Carolina earn a median of about $134,630 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $81,230 for the lowest 10% to over $178,380 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data platform engineers in North Carolina?
Employers hiring data platform engineers in North Carolina right now include Truist, Corning, and NTT DATA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. North Carolina's concentration of major banks in Charlotte and research-driven tech companies in the Research Triangle Park area means demand is consistent across both enterprise financial technology and high-growth software organizations.
Which North Carolina cities have the most data platform engineer jobs?
Charlotte, Durham, and Raleigh have the most data platform engineer openings in North Carolina. Charlotte drives demand through its dense financial services sector, where large banks and fintech firms maintain significant data infrastructure teams, while Raleigh and Durham benefit from Research Triangle Park's cluster of technology companies, pharmaceutical firms, and enterprise software organizations that rely heavily on scalable data platforms.
Are there remote data platform engineer jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 67% of data platform engineer openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well this work translates to distributed teams. Pipeline development, cloud infrastructure management, and data modeling are the portions of the role most frequently performed fully remote, while on-call production support sometimes requires proximity to a Charlotte or Raleigh office.
How can I get hired as a data platform engineer in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior or associate data engineer role at one of North Carolina's larger technology or financial services employers, which often post new-grad positions tied to internal analyst development programs. Moving from a data analyst or business intelligence developer role is a common lateral path, as SQL fluency and dashboard experience transfer directly. Earning an AWS or Google Cloud associate-level certification and building a public portfolio of pipeline projects on GitHub gives candidates in Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte a concrete edge over applicants without professional experience.
