Data Science Manager Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data science manager in Louisiana?
Data science manager roles in Louisiana do not require a state-issued license, so the path runs through education and experience. Most hiring managers in the state expect a bachelor's degree at minimum, with a master's in data science, statistics, or a quantitative field making candidates more competitive. Louisiana employers in energy, healthcare, and financial services typically promote from senior analyst or lead data scientist roles, so building domain expertise in one of those industries while developing team leadership skills is the most direct path.
Which companies hire data science managers in Louisiana?
Companies currently hiring data science managers in Louisiana include Entergy, Secretariat, and Jefferson Parish Schools, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's energy, healthcare, and insurance sectors are the most consistent sources of ongoing openings for this role.
Which Louisiana cities have the most data science manager jobs?
New Orleans, Shreveport, and Louisiana account for the largest share of data science manager openings in Louisiana. New Orleans leads because of its concentration of healthcare systems, financial services firms, and a growing technology sector, while Baton Rouge benefits from the state government's analytics initiatives, large petrochemical operations, and the presence of major university research institutions that feed a steady pipeline of analytical talent.
Are there remote data science manager jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 13% of data science manager openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how naturally the work translates to distributed environments. The most remote-friendly parts of the role are model development, code review, and strategic planning, while team mentoring and stakeholder presentations often pull managers back into an office at least part of the week.
How can I get hired as a data science manager in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a team lead or senior data scientist role first rather than applying directly to manager positions. Large Louisiana employers such as Ochsner Health and major energy operators like Shell and ExxonMobil often hire senior individual contributors who can take on informal leadership before a formal promotion. Building a portfolio that demonstrates end-to-end project ownership, mentoring junior analysts, and earning a graduate certificate or master's degree in data science from Louisiana State University or Tulane strengthens a promotion case considerably.
Where can I find and apply to data science manager jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to data science manager jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and the industry you want to work in, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
