Data Science Manager Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data science manager in Mississippi?
The concrete path in Mississippi starts with a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, followed by several years as a data scientist or analyst at Mississippi employers in healthcare, financial services, or defense contracting. No state-issued license is required for this role. Candidates who advance fastest typically earn a master's degree or a recognized credential such as a Certified Analytics Professional designation, then move into team lead positions before stepping into a full management role.
Which companies hire data science managers in Mississippi?
Companies currently hiring data science managers in Mississippi include RePublic Schools, Milwaukee Tool, and Wayne-Sanderson Farms, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's defense, healthcare, and regional banking sectors tend to drive the most consistent demand for experienced data leadership.
Which Mississippi cities have the most data science manager jobs?
Jackson, Flowood, and Mississippi account for the largest share of data science manager openings in Mississippi. Jackson anchors the market as the state capital and home to major hospital networks and financial institutions, while Gulfport and Hattiesburg benefit from defense industry contracts and growing regional healthcare systems that require dedicated data leadership.
Are there remote data science manager jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 14% of data science manager openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how central the role is to digital and analytical workflows. Strategic and oversight responsibilities such as model review, team one-on-ones, and stakeholder reporting translate well to fully distributed arrangements.
How can I get hired as a data science manager in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a senior data scientist or data analyst role at a Mississippi employer such as a regional bank, a hospital system like Merit Health or Baptist Memorial Health Care, or a state agency. From there, volunteering to lead a project team or mentor junior analysts builds the management record hiring managers look for. A portfolio of end-to-end projects and a Certified Analytics Professional credential both strengthen an application when formal management experience is thin.
Where can I find and apply to data science manager jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to data science manager jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current Mississippi openings updated in real time. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your background and location preferences, and apply directly to whichever positions fit.
