Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support and modernize enterprise database platforms with a focus on automation, cloud technologies, and data analytics. This role combines deep database expertise with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), scripting, and Power BI/dashboarding to enable scalable operations and data-driven insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support SQL Server and PostgreSQL across on-prem and cloud environments (Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure)
- Automate database provisioning, patching, and configuration using IaC and scripting
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to provide insights into database performance, availability, and capacity
- Partner with application and infrastructure teams to enable cloud-native and self-service database solutions
- Support high availability, disaster recovery, performance tuning, and security controls
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability metrics aligned to enterprise standards
- Ensure compliance, audit readiness, and adherence to enterprise database standards
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts
- Embrace mentorship and training from senior engineers; share own perspective on KeyBank processes and/or applicable trends and previous experiences
- Perform other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
- Comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments, both server-hosted and managed service (DBaaS)
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, both server-hosted and managed service (DBaaS)
- Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, or equivalent)
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code languages (Terraform, Ansible, or similar) and orchestration tools (i.e. Harness)
- Experience building or supporting data visualization solutions (Power BI or similar)
- Solid understanding of performance tuning, HA/DR, and database security
- Ability to operate effectively in a large, regulated environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud database platforms (GCP Cloud SQL, Azure SQL, AWS RDS)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, etc.)
- Knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, or analytics workflows
- Experience in financial services or other regulated industries
Education
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
- OR equivalent experience (required)

- Working Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation
- Working Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms
- Working Knowledge of availability management; ability to utilize strategies and tools to ensure the timely availability of business data and applications
- Working Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) systems; ability to utilize a variety of system tools, guarantee service availability, and ensure optimal IT system performance
- Working Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) standards and policies; ability to utilize a variety of administrative skill sets and technical knowledge to manage organizational IT policies, standards, and procedures
- Working Knowledge of emerging technologies; ability to design, apply and evaluate new information technologies for business environments

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $69,000.00 - $105,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
