Closet Factory Houston: Design Consultant. Custom Storage Solutions. In Home.
You are sitting at a kitchen table with a homeowner who has a problem she has been living with for years. She has tried the container store. She has tried reorganizing. Nothing has worked because the space itself is the problem, not how she uses it.
Your job is to diagnose that, specifically and personally. Then you design something built for her. A solution that changes how her mornings work, how her home feels, what she stops thinking about every day. What we build is permanent, custom and backed for life.
That is the work. It is consultative, personal and impactful. If that sounds like something you would be good at, keep reading.
Your Day
You go to the home and see the actual space. You ask questions about how she lives, what is not working, and what she has already tried. You design a custom solution using our software, present it, and help her decide. Most sales happen within two appointments.
The leads are company generated. Your calendar is filled. No cold calling. No prospecting. You show up prepared, run the process and close.
You work from home, in client homes and in our office. You set your own rhythm within the week. This is a performance role with a flexible structure built for someone who manages their own time well.
What We Provide
Online university with extensive catalog. Five days of onboarding are composed of three days of training and two days of supervised practice. Your first appointment is held shortly after training completes.
Weekly office hours ensure you are in front of leadership and the team. A weekly sales meeting focused on your continued development and sharpening the process as a team. National meetings happen twice a month. A structured, proven process and a collegial team that takes the work seriously.
If you have been in roles where the organization was disorganized and your time was wasted, this is different.
What You Earn
100% commission. 10% of every sale. No cap. Monthly and annual performance bonuses. A designer running a consistent schedule earns $85,000 to $135,000 annually. The math is simple, transparent and we walk through it together when we meet.
Who This Is For
You have at least two years of sales experience in any consultative or relationship driven environment. You ask good questions. You listen before you solve. You are comfortable with silence when someone is thinking.
You run a process, not a personality. You value your own time and make each appointment count. You have closed before. You are looking for a place where doing the work well actually pays.
Design, home improvement, interior design, kitchen and bath, furniture, or real estate experience is a plus though not required. You have a Windows laptop, reliable transportation, and availability for appointments some evenings and Saturdays. You are located in Houston.
You may be coming from another role. You may be returning to the workforce after time away. What matters is what you can do in the room, not what your resume looked like last year.
If you close, we want to talk. Apply now or call us directly.

Design Consultant Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a design consultant in Texas?
The most direct path is completing a bachelor's degree in interior design or architecture from an accredited program, then logging the required supervised work hours to sit for the NCIDQ exam. Texas does not mandate state licensure for all interior design work, but the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners registers interior designers who pass the NCIDQ, and that credential is widely expected by commercial and corporate clients. Building a portfolio of completed projects strengthens applications considerably.
Which companies hire design consultants in Texas?
Companies currently hiring design consultants in Texas include Arhaus, RH, and calico, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of corporate campuses, healthcare systems, and commercial real estate developers means demand extends well beyond traditional design studios into in-house roles at large organizations.
Which Texas cities have the most design consultant jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Austin have the most design consultant openings in Texas. Dallas leads because of its dense concentration of corporate headquarters and commercial real estate activity, Houston follows with strong demand from energy-sector office buildouts and healthcare campuses, and Austin's rapid tech industry growth has produced sustained need for workplace strategy and commercial interior consultants.
Are there remote design consultant jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields, since design consultants regularly visit client sites, oversee installations, and present concepts in person. About 32% of design consultant openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, meaning most roles still expect a regular physical presence. The parts of the work most suited to remote delivery are concept development, space planning, and client presentation preparation.
How can I get hired as a design consultant in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship or junior designer role at a commercial design studio, then building toward a full consultant title. Large Texas-based firms like Gensler and HOK run structured internship programs from which they convert strong performers into full-time associates. Related roles such as space planner, design coordinator, or architectural drafter serve as common lateral entry points. Completing your NCIDQ exam hours and assembling a portfolio of student or freelance projects gives you a measurable edge over candidates with a comparable background.
Where can I find and apply to design consultant jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to design consultant jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across commercial studios, corporate in-house teams, and specialty design firms. Search the listings, find the roles that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly to each one.
