The Principal Architect supports the team and the business across our core systems — owning the architecture, standards and systems knowledge that delivery runs on, resolving BAU and production issues, and turning new ideas into working proofs of concept and production systems. You'll work across our established .NET back end, React/TypeScript front end, Azure and Salesforce integrations, and our document-intelligence platform (RAG, local open-weight models, on-prem inference), using AI-assisted tools (Claude Code, Claude Design) to deliver production-grade code against standards you set.

What you'll own
- Architecture, design and technical governance across all systems, working with the owner of each technical vertical
- Technical roadmap for our platforms: modernization, consolidation, and AI integration, including build-versus-buy and modernize-versus-retire decisions, documented and reviewed with the VP of Engineering
- Engineering standards, shared libraries, reference patterns and specs — what the team and our AI-assisted tools build to; code review for AI-generated and human-written code
- Designs and reviews that address performance, scalability, reliability, observability and security
- Raising the team’s technical bar through design reviews, pairing and documentation
- Systems knowledge: learn every system the team runs and become the first call for business users with questions and requests
- Resolving BAU and production issues with the tech team and the business
- Communicating architecture and trade-offs clearly to business owners and leadership
- Time-boxed POCs on new ideas; team and business decide what moves to core
- Taking approved POCs from prototype to production
- Runbook and named backup for every system
What you'll bring
- Architecture experience: 10+ years building enterprise systems, with 3+ in an architect or principal role setting technical direction that others build to.
- Enterprise architecture: system decomposition, integration patterns and data architecture across Azure, Salesforce and Snowflake; security and compliance architecture for regulated data.
- Full-stack depth: C#/.NET Core on the back end, React/TypeScript on the front end, RESTful API design, T-SQL/Azure SQL.
- Azure: hands-on with App Services, Functions, Azure SQL, Data Factory, API Management and DevOps; CI/CD, automated testing and release management.
- AI and RAG delivery: you've shipped a retrieval-augmented system to production — document ingestion and chunking, vector search (pgvector or similar), local or open-weight model deployment (Ollama or similar), and evaluation of extraction accuracy. On-prem or privacy-constrained deployments preferred.
- AI-assisted development: you use agentic coding tools (Claude Code preferred) against structured specifications, and you write and maintain the specs and reference patterns those tools work from.

- HIPAA or similarly regulated data handling; medical or legal document processing
- Docling or other document-parsing pipelines; call-transcript or multi-channel audio text processing
- Playwright or other browser automation for external-system integration
- Design systems and shared component libraries (design tokens, Tailwind); turning Claude Design or Figma into production code
- Modernizing legacy apps (Blazor, ASP.NET MVC, jQuery)
- Application Insights and production monitoring
