Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Microsoft 365, SharePoint & Information Governance Architect for a consulting engagement focused on establishing a secure, standardized information management environment across a complex, multi-departmental, federated organization.
The consultant will lead the design and initial implementation of enterprise SharePoint architecture, departmental data structures, permissions governance, Microsoft Purview information protection controls, and migration standards.
The engagement will include assessing existing SharePoint environments, Google Workspace repositories, shared drives, and Finance WorkDrive information to establish an appropriately structured, classified, and secured destination environment.
The consultant will work alongside a separate implementation consultant, providing architectural guidance, technical standards, initial configurations, migration oversight, and knowledge transfer.
Scope of Services
* Design enterprise and departmental SharePoint information architecture, including sites, libraries, metadata, content types, and naming standards.
* Establish organizational and federation-wide collaboration boundaries.
* Design and validate permissions using Microsoft Entra ID, SharePoint groups, least-privilege controls, and documented access procedures.
* Assess and establish Microsoft Purview governance requirements, including sensitivity labels, DLP, retention, records management, and auditing.
* Develop secure migration strategies for Google Workspace, legacy SharePoint environments, shared drives, and Finance WorkDrive.
* Implement and validate foundational SharePoint sites and controlled migration pilots.
* Establish site provisioning, information governance, security, and migration standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* Develop technical standards for employee training covering OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, document sharing, access permissions, and information protection.
* Provide guidance for information governance and integrations involving ServiceNow, Knowledge Management Systems (KMS), and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
* Develop an implementation roadmap and transfer technical knowledge to the long-term implementation consultant.
Required Expertise
* 7+ years of relevant Microsoft 365, SharePoint, or enterprise information architecture experience.
* Strong hands-on SharePoint Online implementation and governance expertise.
* Advanced understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, permissions architecture, and secure collaboration.
* Experience with Microsoft Purview, information classification, DLP, retention, and records management.
* Enterprise document migration and information restructuring experience.
* PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and Microsoft 365 automation capabilities.
* Experience producing implementation documentation and architectural deliverables.
* Ability to independently deliver technical solutions and collaborate with stakeholders.

Consulting Arrangement
This is a professional consulting engagement, not a permanent employment position.
B2B contracting is preferred, including qualified independent consulting businesses and incorporated technology professionals. Consultants should be able to provide appropriate business documentation, execute a professional services agreement, and submit invoices for approved services.
Selection will be based on relevant expertise, demonstrated implementation experience, consulting qualifications, and ability to deliver the defined project outcomes.
Duration: Initial 3-month engagement, with potential extension up to 6 months
Pay: $75.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 per week
