Design Consultant Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a design consultant in Georgia?
Most design consultant roles in Georgia require a bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field, and competitive candidates hold or are working toward NCIDQ certification. Georgia does not license interior designers by state law, so NCIDQ certification through the Council for Interior Design Qualification serves as the primary professional credential employers recognize. Building a focused portfolio of completed commercial or residential projects and gaining experience through established Georgia firms accelerates hiring.
Which companies hire design consultants in Georgia?
Employers hiring design consultants in Georgia right now include ernesta, Ethan Allen, and Kaiser Permanente, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Atlanta's dense concentration of corporate headquarters, hospitality brands, and commercial developers makes it the state's primary hub for sustained design consultant demand.
Which Georgia cities have the most design consultant jobs?
Atlanta, Buford, and Conyers consistently have the most design consultant openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates because of its large base of architecture and design firms, corporate real estate clients, and hospitality developers, while Savannah draws openings tied to its historic preservation projects, tourism infrastructure, and a growing residential development market along the coast.
Are there remote design consultant jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical fields, since many design consultant roles involve on-site walkthroughs, client presentations, and contractor coordination. About 33% of design consultant openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those remote positions tend to concentrate in strategy-focused or concept-development phases rather than construction-document or installation work.
How can I get hired as a design consultant in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to junior design associate or design coordinator roles at mid-size Atlanta commercial interiors firms, where structured mentorship under senior consultants is common. Large Georgia hospitality developers and corporate real estate firms, including those anchored in Buckhead and Midtown Atlanta, regularly bring on recent graduates for project-support roles. A polished portfolio, even from academic or volunteer work, and progress toward NCIDQ certification significantly improve your chances over candidates without either.
Where can I find and apply to design consultant jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to design consultant jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Georgia openings. Search the roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
