Development Director Jobs in Irvine: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a development director job in Irvine?
The strongest path into a development director role in Irvine runs through the city's nonprofit sector, its large technology companies anchored in the Irvine Spectrum, and its established real estate and healthcare organizations. Candidates who combine a track of successful fundraising or business development with relationships in Orange County's philanthropic or corporate community stand out. Targeting mid-size nonprofits or tech firms in the Irvine Business Complex for senior development manager roles first is the most reliable local entry point.
Which companies hire development directors in Irvine?

Irvine's employer mix skews toward established nonprofits, technology companies, real estate developers, and regional healthcare systems, all of which maintain dedicated development leadership.
Are there remote development director jobs in Irvine?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role type. About 67% of development director openings tied to Irvine are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the strongest remote options in technology and corporate development functions rather than in nonprofit or real estate positions where donor relationships and on-site presence drive most of the work.
How can I get a development director job in Irvine with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Irvine is through a development coordinator or development associate role at one of the city's many nonprofits, including organizations anchored in the Great Park Neighborhoods area or affiliated with UC Irvine's research and community programs. From there, moving into a development manager position builds the portfolio needed for a director role. Candidates who volunteer on Orange County fundraising campaigns or join local professional associations gain the regional donor network that Irvine employers consistently look for.
