DevOps Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a devops in Tennessee?
Most DevOps roles in Tennessee require a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related engineering field, though candidates with associate degrees and strong portfolios are also hired. Tennessee has no state-issued license for DevOps work, so employers focus on certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or HashiCorp Terraform Associate alongside demonstrated hands-on experience with pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and automation tooling.
How much do DevOpses make in Tennessee?
DevOpses in Tennessee earn a median of about $122,430 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $75,280 for the lowest 10% to over $166,380 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire devopss in Tennessee?
Employers hiring devopss in Tennessee right now include Forvia, Hilton, and Erlanger, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Tennessee's concentration of healthcare systems, defense contractors, and logistics technology companies means DevOps demand is distributed across multiple industries rather than limited to pure software firms.
Which Tennessee cities have the most devops jobs?
Nashville, Chattanooga, and Memphis have the most devops openings in Tennessee. Nashville dominates due to its dense cluster of healthcare technology companies and financial services firms, Memphis adds volume through logistics and supply chain platforms anchored by major freight and distribution employers, and Knoxville draws demand from defense and energy contractors tied to the region's federal research institutions.
Are there remote devops jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of devops openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how naturally the role fits distributed work environments. Cloud infrastructure management, pipeline maintenance, and monitoring responsibilities are the functions most frequently offered as fully remote, while on-call production support roles are more likely to require a hybrid arrangement.
How can I get hired as a devops in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a systems administrator, IT operations, or QA automation role into a junior DevOps or platform engineer position. Large Tennessee employers in healthcare technology and logistics regularly hire associate-level infrastructure candidates and develop them through internal rotations. Building a public portfolio on GitHub that demonstrates Terraform configurations, a working CI/CD pipeline, and a containerized application carries more weight with Tennessee hiring teams than certifications alone, though an AWS Cloud Practitioner credential helps clear initial resume filters.
Where can I find and apply to devops jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to devops jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current Tennessee openings across Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, and surrounding areas. Find the roles that fit your experience and specialization, then apply directly to each one.
