Devops Lead Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a devops lead in Oklahoma?
Devops lead is not a state-licensed role in Oklahoma, so the path runs through experience and credentials rather than a licensing board. Most Oklahoma employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, combined with several years of hands-on devops or systems engineering work. Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Professional DevOps Engineer, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator carry weight with Oklahoma's defense, energy, and healthcare employers and help candidates move from senior engineer into a lead position.
How much do devops leads make in Oklahoma?
Devops leads in Oklahoma earn a median of about $118,100 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $75,190 for the lowest 10% to over $169,700 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire devops leads in Oklahoma?
Companies currently hiring devops leads in Oklahoma include Boeing, University of Oklahoma, and Ascension, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Oklahoma's mix of defense contractors, energy companies, and regional health systems means devops lead openings appear across a broader range of industries than in most comparable-sized states.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most devops lead jobs?
Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Bartlesville are the Oklahoma cities with the most devops lead openings. Oklahoma City drives the bulk of demand through its concentration of state government agencies, defense contractors, and large health systems, while Tulsa contributes openings tied to energy companies and regional financial institutions that have built out substantial internal engineering teams in recent years.
Are there remote devops lead jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 22% of devops lead openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how naturally the role fits distributed work. Infrastructure automation, pipeline management, and cloud operations can all be performed off-site, so Oklahoma-based companies frequently post fully remote devops lead roles to compete with national employers.
How can I get hired as a devops lead in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a devops lead role from a senior systems administrator, cloud engineer, or site reliability engineer position at one of Oklahoma's larger employers. Organizations like SAIC, the Oklahoma Office of Management and Enterprise Services, and regional health networks hire associate-level cloud and infrastructure engineers and promote from within. Building a public portfolio on GitHub demonstrating Terraform or Kubernetes work, earning an entry-level AWS or Azure certification, and targeting devops engineer roles before pursuing the lead title gives candidates without prior leadership experience the strongest footing.
Where can I find and apply to devops lead jobs in Oklahoma?
You can find and apply to devops lead jobs in Oklahoma on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oklahoma openings updated regularly. Find the roles that match your experience and apply directly to the ones that fit.
