Job Description
We are looking for an Associate Pricing Planner to join our Nordstrom Merchandising Group Price team. The Associate Pricing Planner is responsible for analyzing, recommending and executing in-season strategies in support of assigned business unit and company objectives and guidelines. Success will be measured in terms of impact on sales, margin and inventory health. The ideal candidate is highly analytical with a curiosity and passion to continuously drive improvement. This candidate possesses a strong sense of ownership, pride and accountability for the impact their choices have on the business and can effectively influence and communicate with senior leaders.
A day in the life...
- Execution of in-season activities: Utilize data & insights to execute management of in-season activities including mark downs, drop ship and competitive intelligence
- Develop and deliver insights: Develop and deliver operational, competitive and strategic insights related to our in-season performance to influence and inform business stakeholders
- Pricing strategy across JWN: Responsible to optimize our pricing for designated area of the business across Full Price and Off Price to drive profitable sales and improve inventory health (turn, sell-through, etc)
- Activating & managing pricing tests: Within designated area of business, activate price tests to continue to drive improved business results
- Influence and leadership: build strong, trusted relationships with Buyer, Buy Planner & Financial Manager leaders across multiple teams utilizing analysis to provide recommendations and shifts in business strategy.
- Mark Down Budget optimization: Accountable to effectively utilize mark down budget to meet business unit goals effectively managing for specific business opportunities and nuances
You own this if...
- Bachelor’s degree required. Preferably in business, economics, math, finance, statistics or engineering
- 3-5+ years of experience in retail, analysis and/or pricing preferred
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to synthesize large and varying data sets into actionable insights
- Advanced Excel skills required
- Merchandising knowledge and experience is a plus
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – with ability to lead, facilitate and present to groups of differing size
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
- Strong work ethic complemented with a positive can-do attitude
- Strong ability to build effective relationships, influence, and collaborate at all organizational levels
