Associate Director of Employee Well-Being

The Associate Director of Employee Well-Being develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive well-being programs, including challenges and training/workshops, to support employee well-being. This position plays a key role in fostering a healthy workplace culture by educating employees on well-being practices, preventative health, and behavioral change strategies aligned with organizational health goals. Primary duties include:

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables
• Provide leadership and supervision to student and professional staff developing programs, marketing campaigns, and initiatives focused on impacting employee well-being.
• Develop curricula and facilitate workshops, seminars, and training sessions for faculty and staff based on identified needs.
• Manage, report, and publicize Employee Well-Being’s progress toward the achievement of unit, divisional, and university objectives.
• Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including university administrators, faculty, staff, and community partners.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master’s degree in public health, communications, or related field.
- 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in employee wellness, including supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of public health principles and evidence-based communications and strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with media relations.
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

- Knowledge of basic principles, practices, and theories affecting health and wellness.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships and maintain positive public relations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Duties

Operational Management

- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables
- Oversee day to day operations
- Work closely with department and leadership to develop and manage internal budget, ensuring financial resources are allocated effectively, equitably, and responsibly; identifying opportunities for cost savings
- Oversee health education efforts related to employee health and well-being, including individual, group, and institutional approaches
- Facilitate worksite health screening and wellness coaching appointments for faculty and staff with reporting metrics for services.
- Facilitate programming, e.g. Wellness, time management, nutrition basics, physical activity, stress management, etc.

Team Leadership

- Provide leadership and supervision to student and professional staff developing programs, marketing campaigns, and initiatives focused on impacting employee well-being
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging continuous learning and development
- Lead and mentor professionals and student workers

Strategic Planning and Implementation

- Develop curricula and facilitate workshops, seminars, and training sessions for faculty and staff based on identified needs
- Work closely with the department and leadership to develop and implement strategic plans aligned with university, division, department, and unit priorities
- Conduct research and analysis to identify top trends and best practices in employee well-being, incorporating these insights into departmental strategies

Assessment

- Manage, report, and publicize Employee Well-Being’s progress toward the achievement of unit, divisional, and university objectives
- Conduct assessment of programs, utilization, facilitators to ensure effectiveness
- Review campus data and implement evidence-based strategies on the findings

Stakeholder Collaboration

- Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including university administrators, faculty, staff, and community partners
- Represent the unit in university-wide initiatives and collaborate with other departments to enhance overall employee experience and well-being.
- Build and maintain relationships with faculty and staff groups, and organizations, including their respective well-being subcommittees
