Senior Level Distribution Operations Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level distribution operations manager job?
Employers at this level look for candidates who have owned facility-wide or network-wide outcomes, not just executed on direction from above. A strong application demonstrates leadership over multi-shift teams, measurable improvements to throughput or cost, and experience with major systems like WMS or TMS. Candidates who can speak to strategic decisions they drove, including capacity planning or vendor negotiations, stand out consistently.
Which companies hire senior level distribution operations managers?
Companies hiring senior level distribution operations managers right now include Alvarez & Marsal, Burns & McDonnell, and The Home Depot, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from large retailers, third-party logistics providers, and manufacturers operating multi-site distribution networks that require experienced leadership to manage scale and complexity.
Are there remote senior level distribution operations manager jobs?
Yes, though most roles at this level require an on-site or hybrid presence given the hands-on nature of distribution leadership. About 37% of senior level distribution operations manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements more common than fully remote. Remote roles typically involve network oversight or project-based work rather than direct facility management.
What makes a distribution operations manager role senior level?
Senior level roles are defined by scope, accountability, and influence. You are expected to set operational direction rather than follow it, own KPIs across a facility or network, and drive continuous improvement initiatives independently. These roles also carry responsibility for developing others, whether through direct management or mentoring junior managers, and require cross-functional leadership involving finance, procurement, and commercial teams.
Which industries hire the most senior level distribution operations managers?
Senior level distribution operations manager roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Retail, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate high-volume, time-sensitive distribution networks where experienced leadership directly affects service reliability, cost control, and the ability to scale operations in response to demand.
