Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Accountant
Get your credentials assessed before applying
Australian three-year accounting degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree, but having a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved provider removes any doubt and strengthens your case with hesitant employers.
Target employers with active LCA filing histories
Search the DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway to see which accounting firms and finance teams have filed LCAs for similar roles. Employers with prior E-3 visa or H-1B visa filings already understand sponsorship and are far less likely to withdraw an offer once they see the paperwork.
Find E-3 sponsorship jobs on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to search for Accountant roles filtered by E-3 visa sponsorship. The platform surfaces employers with verified sponsorship history so you're not guessing which firms will support your application.
Clarify your CPA status early in interviews
U.S. employers often conflate Australian CPA designation with U.S. CPA licensure. Be upfront that your qualification is internationally recognised but that U.S. CPA licensure requirements vary by state and may need to be pursued after you arrive.
Confirm the job offer specifies a specialty occupation
The E-3 requires your role to meet the USCIS specialty occupation standard, meaning the employer must require a relevant bachelor's degree as a minimum. Ensure the offer letter and any internal job description explicitly state this requirement before the LCA is filed.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and consulate prep
Once you have an offer, the LCA must be certified by the DOL before your consulate appointment. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the LCA, visa paperwork, and consulate preparation end-to-end so nothing falls through between offer acceptance and your interview.
E-3 Visa Accountant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Accountant jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. Filter by role and visa type to surface Accountant positions at employers who have sponsored E-3 or H-1B visas before. Targeting employers with prior sponsorship history saves time and avoids offers that stall once hiring managers see the paperwork involved.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Accountant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS treats accounting as a specialty occupation when the employer genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a directly related field. The risk is roles where the employer's internal job description says a degree is preferred rather than required. If the posting uses 'preferred,' ask HR to confirm the minimum requirement before your employer files the LCA.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian accounting professionals?
The E-3 is almost always the better path for Australians. There's no lottery, no annual cap, and the process moves faster because you apply directly at a U.S. consulate in Australia rather than waiting for USCIS petition approval. H-1B requires entering a random lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate, meaning you could have a job offer and still not get selected. The E-3 sidesteps all of that.
Can I transfer my Australian CPA registration to work as an accountant in the U.S. on an E-3?
Your Australian CPA designation satisfies the E-3's educational requirement for most accounting roles, but it doesn't automatically grant U.S. CPA licensure. Each U.S. state has its own CPA licensing board with separate exam and experience requirements. You can work in accounting roles that don't require a U.S. CPA license immediately, but if you plan to sign off on audits or hold a licensed CPA title, you'll need to pursue state licensure after arriving.
