Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Director Of Product Design
Frame your portfolio for U.S. specialty occupation standards
Your portfolio needs to demonstrate that the Director role requires your specific design degree, not just general creative skill. Annotate case studies to show systems thinking, cross-functional leadership, and measurable product outcomes that align with DOL's specialty occupation criteria.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to find employers who have filed LCAs for design leadership roles. Companies with prior E-3 or H-1B filings for product design positions already understand the process and are far less likely to withdraw an offer mid-filing.
Address visa status early in senior-level conversations
At Director level, hiring decisions involve legal and finance sign-off. Raise your E-3 eligibility before the final interview round so legal counsel can confirm sponsorship approval, preventing delays after an offer is extended.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage the LCA and paperwork
The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end, so you're not coordinating between the employer's HR team and the consulate on your own.
Verify your Australian degree meets U.S. equivalency requirements
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree in design or a related field is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 purposes, but have your credential evaluation ready. Gaps in documentation are a common cause of consulate delays for design leadership applicants.
Negotiate visa fee responsibility before signing your offer
E-3 filing fees are not legally required to be paid by the employer, unlike some H-1B fees. Confirm in writing whether your employer covers the MRV fee and any associated legal costs before you accept, since this is negotiable at Director level.

Find Director Of Product Design JobsDirector Of Product Design E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Director of Product Design jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for E-3 sponsorship roles in the U.S. You can filter by job title and see which employers have a history of sponsoring work visas for design leadership positions. Standard job boards don't surface sponsorship willingness, so searching without that filter wastes significant time at Director level where hiring timelines are longer.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Director of Product Design role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, Director of Product Design roles qualify as specialty occupations because they require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as design, human-computer interaction, or a related discipline. The DOL and USCIS look at whether the position normally requires this degree level, not just whether your employer prefers it. Job descriptions that list a degree as 'preferred' rather than 'required' can create complications during LCA review.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for a Director of Product Design role?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so you're not competing against tens of thousands of registrations for a limited number of slots the way H-1B applicants are. E-3 visas are issued for two years and renewable indefinitely, and the LCA certification process typically runs faster than H-1B adjudication. For Australian nationals in design leadership, the E-3 is a more predictable path with fewer employer-side compliance barriers.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a Director of Product Design?
You can change employers on E-3 status, but your new employer must file a new LCA and you'll need a new visa stamp if your current one doesn't cover the new employer's terms. There's no formal transfer process like the H-1B portability rule, so timing your resignation carefully matters. You generally need to leave the U.S. for a new consulate appointment unless you pursue a change of status through USCIS.
