DESCRIPTION
At Amazon, data is critical to everything we do, from understanding product inventories across our global fulfillment centers to predicting what products to recommend to customers. Data ceaselessly informs our flywheel, helping us to understand customer needs, onboard new sellers and selection, and identify opportunities for cost savings. Business Data Technologies (BDT) provides trustworthy, intuitive, and cost-efficient solutions for Amazonians to secure, store, analyze, and transform this data at unparalleled scale. BDT owns, develops, and operates Andes, one of the largest data lakes in the world, storing 3+ exabytes of data, read/written to by 100k+ data pipelines, with >60k monthly active users. To do this, we need extraordinary individuals to build the next generation of data analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions for thousands of scientists, engineers, and analysts who rely upon us to get their jobs done.
The BDT-AI4ME organization works to bring AI-centric methodologies and automations to Amazon organizations needing to connect their business teams and objectives with their data teams and architectures. The BDT-AI4ME organization seeks to lower the cognitive load needed to connect business to data through best of class agents and AI-ready metadata to allow anyone to access data to gain insights.
As a Principal Technical Program Manager in the BDT-AI4ME organization, you understand ways that enterprises apply AI to solve business and technical problems. You understand the ways that Amazon’s business teams work with their data teams, and you seek to reduce friction and error-proneness of those interactions using AI. You drive lightweight mechanisms that bring visibility to leadership, share best practices, and provide better communication and collaboration across teams. This role works closely with Tech Directors, VPs and Principal Engineers to identify patterns, new trends, goals and areas for cross-org collaboration. This role does not support just one organization but rather focuses on best practices that can be applicable to multiple organizations across Amazon.
Key job responsibilities
You focus on the needs of business users as they navigate data from question to insight. You formulate goals and plans for transforming the ways Amazon extracts value from its data through iterative improvements involving AI enablement, process optimization, role guidelines, and org design.
As part of a broader team, you collaborate with other technical program managers to ensure that work in your space aligns with work and plans of other teams across BDT and other organizations. You establish mechanisms for inspection and awareness of progress across cross cutting initiatives.
Data drives your “flywheel”. You analyze data to glean insights that drive experimentation. You leverage data such as service telemetry, user feedback, and industry trends to surface opportunities for improvement. You take what’s proven and partner with Amazon organizations to apply and scale it. You define, implement, and monitor metrics that track your progress.
You partner with Amazon’s business orgs to test hypotheses and deploy AI-based solutions to reduce friction and risk of errors in the ways that businesses use data.
You give feedback on narratives, contribute to strategy (e.g., OP1 planning), set goals, discuss weekly business metrics, and more.
You partner with Amazon’s PXT organization to evolve and optimize roles guidelines and org design best practices to align with the way businesses are evolving their practices around getting insights from their data.
You partner with engineering, human resources, legal, documentation, solution architecture, privacy, finance, and more to optimize usage of the Andes data lake for AI-based methodologies.
As an owner, you hold yourself and partners accountable for the highest quality user outcomes.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Product Design Manager
Translate your portfolio for U.S. hiring managers
U.S. product design teams evaluate managers on systems thinking and cross-functional leadership, not just visual output. Frame your portfolio around design decisions that influenced product strategy, team structure, or business outcomes to pass specialist-occupation scrutiny.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Employers who have previously filed Labor Condition Applications for design or product roles already understand the DOL certification process. Prioritizing these companies shortens your timeline from offer to sponsorship approval.
Secure a written job offer before LCA filing begins
Your employer can't file the LCA with the DOL until a formal offer exists. Push for an offer letter that specifies your job title, start date, and work location, since the LCA must match these details exactly or require an amendment.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA and consulate prep
The LCA and DS-160 must align on employer details, role description, and wage level. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the entire process from offer acceptance to consulate appointment, reducing amendment risk from documentation mismatches.
Prepare a specialty occupation letter tied to your degree
Consular officers assess whether a Senior Product Design Manager role genuinely requires a specific bachelor's degree. Draft a support letter with your employer that connects the role's HCI, UX research, or design systems responsibilities directly to your Australian degree field.
Clarify remote and hybrid arrangements before your visa interview
If your role involves distributed teams or partial remote work, the LCA must list every worksite where you'll work more than sporadically. Resolve your work location arrangement with your employer before the consulate interview to avoid LCA amendments after approval.
E-3 Visa Senior Product Design Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Senior Product Design Manager jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Senior Product Design Manager roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship, filtering out positions that only support H-1B visa or require existing U.S. work authorization. Because the E-3 has no lottery, employers who sponsor one Australian candidate face far less administrative risk than H-1B sponsorship, which makes the conversation easier to open.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Senior Product Design Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as interaction design, human-computer interaction, visual communication, or a closely related discipline. Generic management roles that accept any degree field can struggle to meet the specialty occupation standard, so the job description needs to explicitly tie the role's core responsibilities to a particular area of study.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian product design managers?
The E-3 has a 10,500-visa annual allocation that has never been exhausted, so there's no lottery and no random selection. H-1B sponsorship requires entering a lottery with roughly a one-in-four chance of selection in recent years. For a Senior Product Design Manager with an Australian passport, the E-3 is the direct path: apply after receiving an offer, attend a consulate interview in Australia, and start work once the visa is issued.
Can I change employers or get promoted while on an E-3?
Changing employers requires a new LCA and either a new consulate appointment or a change-of-status filing if you're already in the U.S. A promotion to a materially different role, such as moving from individual-contributor management to VP of Design, may also require a new LCA if the job duties or wage level change significantly. Plan the timing with your new employer before giving notice to your current one.
