DESCRIPTION
The Enterprise Engineering (EE) team builds the internal productivity tools and capabilities that power Amazon. Our products reach every part of the company, and are changing the employee experience around how work gets done in the AI era. Most of the interaction patterns we need haven't been invented yet. We need your craft, your builder instincts, and your fluency with AI to help define what comes next.
We are looking for a Senior UX Designer who will own product design end to end for AI-native tools used across Amazon. You'll work in spec-driven teams alongside engineers, PMs, AI specialists, researchers, and customers. You'll design for model capabilities that are changing in real time, prototype by building, and define how Amazonians (executives, engineers, non-technical staff) experience their daily tools. The visibility is high, the problem space is wide open, and design has a real seat at the table.
The right person for this role is already AI-native in how they work. AI is part of your design practice now, not something you're planning to pick up. You pay attention to where model capabilities are heading and design for what's coming, not just what's shipping today. You'd rather build a working prototype than present a deck. You do your best work when the problem is fuzzy, the patterns are uncharted, and the upside is enormous.
If you're looking for a role where you define new conventions rather than follow existing ones, where a small team punches well above its weight because AI makes that possible, and where your work shapes the daily experience of an entire company, we'd love to talk to you.
Key job responsibilities
- Own product design end to end, from the first prototype to what ships, for AI-native tools used across Amazon
- Invent interaction patterns that don't have a playbook yet: how people direct agents, trust them, correct them, and work alongside them
- Prototype in code (HTML/CSS/JS), AI-assisted dev tools, and whatever gets a real thing in front of real users fastest
- Build a new design system using AI, extracting tokens, components, and patterns from product work as it ships
- Set product direction alongside PMs, engineers, AI specialists, and customers. On a team this small, design has a real say in what gets built
- Present design work and influence product direction with stakeholders and leadership across the organization
- Ship it, watch people use it, change it. Repeat
About the team
We're a small design team that experiments with how design gets done, not just what it produces. We're actively reshaping our own process around agentic workflows, AI-assisted development, and a product lifecycle that looks nothing like the one most enterprise teams follow. The way we research, spec, prototype, test, and ship is itself a work in progress, and we treat it that way on purpose.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of UX designer or interaction designer experience
- Have an online portfolio or samples of work on resume, demonstrating experience creating great end-to-end, user-centered design solutions and patterns, across desktop and mobile devices
- 1+ years of working with or evaluating AI systems experience
- Experience presenting to and effectively advising senior leaders outside of design
- Deep experience architecting design systems (tokens, components, patterns, documentation)
- Proficiency in code-based prototyping (HTML/CSS/JS) or AI-assisted development tools
- Technical understanding of LLMs and how they inform product design decisions
- Degree in Design, HCI, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Daily use of AI tools (coding assistants, generative design tools, LLMs) in your design workflow
- Experience using AI to accelerate design system creation (pattern extraction, component generation, documentation)
- Experience with enterprise or internal tools at scale (100K+ users)
- Familiarity with spec-driven development, prompt engineering, model evaluation, or human-AI interaction design
- Experience designing novel interaction patterns: multi-agent orchestration, trust and transparency patterns, AI reasoning interfaces, or agentic workflows

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Staff Product Designer
Translate your portfolio for U.S. hiring managers
Australian design credentials are respected, but U.S. recruiters look for systems-thinking evidence at staff-plus levels. Frame your portfolio around cross-functional influence, design system ownership, and measurable product outcomes rather than visual craft alone.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for product designer or UX roles. Prior LCA activity signals an employer already understands the E-3 visa sponsorship process and won't need educating from scratch.
Clarify E-3 sponsorship early in the process
Raise E-3 sponsorship once you reach the hiring manager or recruiter screen, not after an offer. Senior Staff roles involve long interview loops; knowing their willingness before investing weeks saves both sides time.
Confirm your degree field supports the role
E-3 specialty occupation requires your degree to relate directly to the position. A bachelor's in industrial design, HCI, or computer science supports a Senior Staff Product Designer LCA. A degree in an unrelated field requires a credentials evaluation from a DOL-recognized credential evaluator.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA
The LCA must be certified by DOL before your visa interview. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end, so your employer doesn't need a separate immigration attorney to get the process started.
Prepare for consulate questions about design scope
Consular officers assess whether your role genuinely qualifies as a specialty occupation. Bring your job offer letter, a brief role description confirming degree requirements, and portfolio evidence of work that could not be performed without specialized tertiary-level training.
E-3 Visa Senior Staff Product Designer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Senior Staff Product Designer jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for E-3 visa sponsorship roles in the United States. You can filter by job title and see which employers have a track record of sponsoring Australians, so you're not applying blind. Senior Staff Product Designer roles are listed across tech, fintech, and enterprise software sectors.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Senior Staff Product Designer role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as product design, human-computer interaction, industrial design, or computer science. The role must be defined in the job offer as requiring that specific theoretical and practical knowledge. Generalist roles where any degree is accepted may face LCA scrutiny.
How does the E-3 visa compare to H-1B for Senior Staff Product Designer roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no cap, so you can apply any time a qualifying offer exists. H-1B visa registrations are entered into a randomised lottery in March each year, and selection is not guaranteed. For a Senior Staff Product Designer with an offer in hand, the E-3 is a direct path without the lottery wait or the risk of non-selection.
Can I switch employers while on an E-3 as a Senior Staff Product Designer?
Yes, but you cannot start working for the new employer until a new LCA is certified by DOL and a new E-3 visa is issued or a change of status is approved. There is no portability provision like the one that exists under AC21 for H-1B holders, so plan for a gap between roles or time the transition carefully with your new employer.
