E-3 Visa Staff Designer Jobs
Staff Designer roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in design or a related field. Australian designers can enter the U.S. job market without competing in the H-1B lottery, with two-year renewable status and no annual cap to worry about.

About the Team
In this role, you will join a global New Verticals team at Doordash. In New Verticals (NV), we're building 01 products that go far beyond restaurants — from groceries to retail and beyond — and impact the lives of people across the globe. This is a key part of DoorDash's broader transformation: evolving from a place to order your next meal to the platform that powers all of your everyday needs.
New Verticals is a rapidly growing part of the business and central to DoorDash's evolution — a meaningful opportunity to help shape the company's future.
Our team is tackling challenges around anticipating customer needs, preferences, and routines so we can deliver groceries — and anything else they want — exactly as they would choose themselves.
About the Role
You will join the New Verticals Fulfillment team, focused on shaping the end-to-end Dasher/Shopper experience. We're building a foundational, AI-first product that adapts in real time — equipping Dashers with intelligent tools to make confident, high-quality decisions on behalf of customers. The work sits at the intersection of efficiency, quality, and earnings, and requires thoughtful tradeoffs to deliver strong outcomes across the system.
You'll design for a three-sided marketplace, navigating complex interactions between customers, Dashers, and merchants. This role requires strong systems thinking, a high bar for craft, and the ability to lead through ambiguity — turning loosely defined problems into shipped, measurable outcomes.
More broadly, you'll play a key role in DoorDash's ongoing business and brand transformation, helping reinforce that we can serve all of a customer's everyday needs while building trust in every interaction.
As a Designer on New Verticals, you'll move quickly from concept to live product, using production as your prototyping environment and learning from real behavior — not just research artifacts. You'll care deeply about whether what you build actually improves decisions in the moment, reduces friction across workflows, and raises the quality of outcomes for customers and Dashers alike.
You'll work closely with Engineering, Product Management, User Research, Analytics, and Strategy & Operations — using data to inform decisions and LLM-powered tools alongside traditional design tools. And when the right tools don't exist, you'll help define and build them.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Define and lead high-impact projects from idea to shipped product
- Turn ambiguous, cross-team problems into clear, actionable work
- Design across workflows and systems — not just screens
- Build and leverage LLM-powered tools (and create them when they don't exist)
- Set a high bar for craft with production-ready prototypes
- Influence roadmaps through data, design, and working artifacts
- Mentor designers and elevate team capabilities
We're excited about you because…
- Has a portfolio demonstrating craft, systems thinking, and leadership
- Prototypes in code and uses LLMs as a core design tool
- Thrives in complex, fast-moving, marketplace environments
- Creates clarity through shipping, not just storytelling
- Has experience in high-growth consumer tech or marketplaces

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Staff Designer
Translate your Australian design credentials
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree in design, visual communication, or interaction design satisfies the E-3 degree requirement. Get a credential evaluation confirming equivalency to a U.S. bachelor's before your first interview to avoid delays at the offer stage.
Frame your portfolio around specialty occupation evidence
Your portfolio needs to demonstrate that the role requires specialised design knowledge, not just general creative skill. Lead with projects that involved systems thinking, design direction, or cross-functional product work to support the specialty occupation classification.
Clarify the LCA requirement early in negotiations
Once you have an offer, your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your consulate appointment can proceed. Raise this in the offer conversation so HR isn't caught off guard by the pre-visa paperwork step.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
After your offer is signed, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This avoids the coordination gaps that slow down first-time sponsors and gets you to your consulate appointment faster.
Prepare a nonimmigrant intent response for your interview
E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa, so consular officers will assess your ties to Australia. Prepare a direct, factual response covering ongoing Australian connections, such as property, family, or professional memberships, before your Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth appointment.

Find Staff Designer JobsStaff Designer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Staff Designer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters Staff Designer roles by employers willing to sponsor Australian nationals on the E-3 visa, so you're not sifting through listings that exclude visa candidates. The platform surfaces design roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring conversation, saving you the back-and-forth of asking each employer individually.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Staff Designer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a design-related field such as graphic design, interaction design, or visual communication. Roles titled Staff Designer at product companies and agencies typically meet this standard. Where it can get complicated is when a job description lists a degree as preferred rather than required, which can undermine the specialty occupation case at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Staff Designer roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens, but it has no lottery and no annual cap, which means you can apply whenever you have a job offer rather than waiting for an April registration window. H-1B selection is random and capped at 85,000 per year. For Australian designers, the E-3 is a far more direct path because approval depends on your qualifications and the role, not on luck.
Can I switch Staff Designer roles while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but you need a new LCA and updated visa documentation before starting with the new employer. The E-3 is employer-specific, so your current approval doesn't transfer automatically. If you're changing jobs before your visa period ends, your new employer files a fresh LCA with the DOL, and you'll typically need to attend another consulate appointment in Australia to get a new E-3 stamp.
