E-3 Visa UI Designer Jobs
UI Designer roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in a design-related field. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so Australian designers can pursue opportunities year-round. Your employer files a Labor Condition Application before your consulate interview.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an UI Designer
Verify your degree field matches the role
E-3 visa requires your qualification to align with the specific job, not just any bachelor's degree. A degree in graphic design, interaction design, or HCI directly supports a UI Designer LCA. Visual arts or communications degrees may require additional documentation to establish equivalency.
Target employers with dedicated design teams
Companies with in-house design systems teams file LCAs more readily than agencies or consultancies that staff projects ad hoc. Product-led tech companies, enterprise SaaS businesses, and fintech firms regularly sponsor UI roles because design is core to their product function.
Build a portfolio that documents process, not just output
U.S. hiring managers evaluating E-3 candidates want evidence that the role requires specialized knowledge. Case studies showing UX research synthesis, design system architecture, and stakeholder decision-making strengthen the specialty occupation argument your employer will need to support.
Ask about LCA timing before accepting an offer
Your employer must file and receive a certified LCA from DOL before you can schedule your consulate interview. Typical DOL certification runs seven business days. Confirm your employer understands this step and has either done it before or has HR support ready.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage your paperwork
Once you have an offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles LCA preparation, I-129 if required, and consulate document preparation end-to-end. This avoids the common delay of employers unfamiliar with E-3 requirements stalling the process after an offer is signed.
Prepare your DS-160 with accurate employment details
The DS-160 asks for your job title, employer address, and a description of duties. Use the exact job title from your offer letter and LCA. Mismatches between your DS-160 entries and your LCA are a routine cause of additional administrative processing at Australian consulates.
E-3 Visa UI Designer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find UI Designer jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for UI Designer roles where employers have E-3 sponsorship history. Most general job searches don't filter by visa type, so you end up approaching employers who have never filed an LCA. Searching through Migrate Mate surfaces roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring conversation.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a UI Designer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a design-related field such as interaction design, graphic design, or human-computer interaction. Roles where any degree field is acceptable, or where the employer lists a degree as preferred rather than required, can create problems during LCA review. Your offer letter and job description need to reflect a degree requirement tied to the specific discipline.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian UI Designers?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply at any time of year without waiting for a random selection. H-1B visa registrations open once annually and are capped at 85,000, with selection by lottery. For Australian designers, the E-3 is a direct path. The underlying specialty occupation standard is the same for both visa types, so a qualifying UI Designer role works for either.
Can I switch employers after arriving in the U.S. on an E-3?
Yes, but you need a new LCA certified by DOL and a new visa stamp or an approved change of employer before you start with the new company. You can't simply transfer your existing E-3 to a new employer the way some other visa holders can port their status. Starting the new LCA process as early as possible after accepting a new offer avoids gaps in your work authorization.
