Frame your portfolio for U.S. specialty occupation
USCIS requires your role to meet the specialty occupation standard. Structure your portfolio to show degree-level design thinking, not just execution. Lead with systems-level UX work, research frameworks, and documented design decisions that justify bachelor's-degree equivalency.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Labor Condition Application disclosure data to identify tech, finance, and healthcare companies that have sponsored design roles before. Prior LCA filings for UX or product design positions signal an employer already understands the E-3 process.
Address the specialty occupation question upfront
Senior UX UI Designer roles sometimes use broad job descriptions that list 'any bachelor's degree.' Ask hiring managers to confirm the position formally requires a degree in a design-related field before your LCA is filed, since that specificity is what satisfies USCIS.
Get your credential evaluated before applying
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees, but a foreign credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization removes ambiguity during the LCA and consulate stages. Prepare this document before you receive an offer.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the offer stage
Once you have an offer, the employer must file an LCA with the DOL before your consulate appointment can proceed. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so neither you nor your employer has to manage unfamiliar government portals.
Clarify remote and hybrid work arrangements in your LCA
If your Senior UX UI Designer role involves remote work from a different location than your employer's headquarters, the LCA must reflect each worksite. Confirm the work location details with your employer before DOL submission to avoid amendment delays after filing.

Find Senior UX UI Designer JobsSenior UX UI Designer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Senior UX UI Designer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals seeking U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. It filters Senior UX UI Designer positions by employers who are familiar with or have previously sponsored E-3 visas, so you're not cold-pitching companies that have never navigated the process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Senior UX UI Designer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the job description formally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a design-related field such as UX design, human-computer interaction, graphic design, or cognitive science. Roles where any bachelor's degree is accepted regardless of field are harder to qualify, so the job posting language and employer's internal requirements matter significantly during the LCA stage.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian UX UI Designers?
The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and has no annual lottery, no cap, and no random selection. H-1B registration opens once a year and selection is not guaranteed. For Senior UX UI Designers, the E-3 allows you to time your move around job market conditions rather than a single annual lottery window, and renewals can continue indefinitely in two-year increments.
Can I change employers or take on freelance work while on an E-3 as a designer?
Changing employers requires a new LCA and updated visa documentation tied to the new role before you start work. Freelance or contract work for additional clients outside your primary employer is not permitted on an E-3 unless you obtain separate authorization. Each E-3 is tied to a specific employer and role, so any material change in your job duties or employer requires updated documentation.
