Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Product Designer
Frame your portfolio for U.S. specialty occupation
Your portfolio needs to show degree-level design work, not just execution. Highlight systems thinking, research methods, and cross-functional leadership to demonstrate the role requires a bachelor's in a specific field, which is what makes it E-3 visa eligible.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs for design roles. Employers who have done it before understand the process and won't treat your visa as a dealbreaker.
Ask about LCA timelines before accepting an offer
The DOL must certify your LCA before you can apply at the consulate. Standard certification takes seven business days, but errors or deficiencies reset that clock. Confirm your employer knows this before you set a start date.
Get your Australian degree equivalency documented early
A three-year Australian bachelor's in design is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but some consular officers request a credential evaluation. Get a formal evaluation from a USCIS-recognized credential assessment service before your interview.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for end-to-end support
Once you have an offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles your LCA preparation, DS-160, and consulate appointment documents. This reduces back-and-forth with your employer and cuts the risk of errors that delay your start date.
Negotiate your start date around consulate appointment availability
E-3 visas require a consulate interview in Australia. Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth have different wait times that fluctuate by season. Build at least four weeks of buffer between your LCA certification and your proposed first day.
E-3 Visa Product Designer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Product Designer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Product Designer roles at employers with E-3 and LCA filing history, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never sponsored an Australian before. Filter by role, location, and visa type to find positions where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does Product Designer qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the job posting requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as design, human-computer interaction, or a closely related discipline. Roles that accept any degree or list a degree as preferred rather than required can fail the specialty occupation test. The job description your employer uses for the LCA filing is what USCIS and the consular officer will evaluate.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for Product Designer roles?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply any time of year as soon as you have a job offer. H-1B visa has an 85,000-slot annual cap and a randomized lottery, which means most applicants aren't selected even with a qualifying offer. For Australian designers, the E-3 is a direct path where qualifications and employer willingness are the only real variables.
Can I switch Product Designer employers after my E-3 is approved?
Yes, but your E-3 is tied to the specific employer and role on your approved LCA. Changing employers requires a new LCA filing and a new visa stamp, which means another consulate appointment in Australia. You can work for the new employer once the new LCA is certified and your visa is reissued, so plan the transition timeline carefully with both employers involved.
